If you are subject to a Non-compete Contract at your employment:
After taking public comments on non-competes, the Federal Trade Commission received over 26,000 comments, with over 25,000 of those being against non-competes. The FTC has now issued a rule prohibiting Non-compete Contracts, with the rule going into effect on or around August 23, 2024. At that point, employers will be required to notify their employees that they will no longer be subject to non-competes that are or will be in effect at that time. There are exceptions, however, such as certain senior executives, and this rule does not apply to non-disclosure agreements.
