Do you know a student pursuing a career in healthcare? Sanford Health is offering a $2,000 Network Scholarship and we want to help lift future healthcare professionals across our rural communities!

Who can apply?
Applicants must:
✔ Be affiliated with a participating Sanford network community (employee, family member, patient, or local resident)
✔ Be pursuing a career in healthcare
✔ Have a 3.0+ GPA on a 4.0 scale

Award:
💙 $2,000 scholarship
💙 Eligible each year (up to $4,000 lifetime)

Sanford Health had 30 clinicians and staff from Detroit Lakes, Pelican Rapids, Hawley, and Ulen clinics participate in the 2026 Polar Fest Plunge Chillin’ for the Children on February 21st. 2026 marks 30 years of supporting youth at Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes through the Polar Fest Plunge!

Sanford Health celebrated the grand opening of its new physical therapy department at the Pelican Rapids Clinic with a ribbon cutting on January 8. Community members and staff gathered to mark the expanded services, which also now include women’s health and pelvic floor therapy. The new department brings enhanced, close-to-home care for patients in the Pelican Rapids area.

Celebrate fall at the 28th Annual Oktoberfest in Pelican Rapids, a beloved community tradition filled with festive fun! From October 9-11, enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, live music, raffles, local vendors, and the crowning of Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest. With events like the Stop & Shop, silent auctions, and themed contests, there’s something for everyone. On June 11th, Kirsten Tollefson, network radiology technologist, was recognized with the Hero Award for Stewardship. Here is her nomaination, as read by Donna Steinhofer, LPN: "We are a small rural clinic. On 3/5/25 we had a patient who had fallen with a possible shoulder problem. Xray was ordered. In our clinic we have one Xray technician and 1 lab tech. During Xray patient stated to Kirsten that she was feeling a little dizzy, then started to collapse when Kirsten moved her quickly into chair. The patient went unresponsive. Kirsten tried to yell for help, she tried sternal rub with no response still and patient was sliding off the chair. Kirsten used her watch to call to lab and ask for nursing help. 3 nurses arrived and protocols were followed. It took courage to stay with patient and calmly find a way to notify that she needed help. We in awe of her ingenuity and resourcefulness in problem solving for our patients on a daily basis but excelled today."
