Staff Spotlight: Staci Jansen
Meet Staci Jansen, our dedicated Front Office Coordinator in the Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine department at Pella Regional Health Center!
Staci is often the first friendly face our patients see—and the one who gets them started on their healing journey. From scheduling that first appointment (usually within 1–3 days!) to providing education on wound care, pain management, nutrition, and prevention, she plays a key role in supporting our patients every step of the way.
Every patient who walks through our doors has a unique story, and Staci takes pride in helping them feel seen, heard, and cared for. She ensures their follow-up appointments are on track and celebrates right alongside them when they reach the milestone of ringing the “healing bell.”
💬 “I am grateful and feel blessed to be part of a team who supports and truly cares for each patient on their healing journey. My hope and prayer is that I make a positive impact on each patient—that they feel special, and know they matter.”
Staci adds, “We may be a small department, but we have BIG results!”
We’re so thankful for the heart and compassion Staci brings to our Wound Care team!

Celebrating One Year of Enhanced Maternity Care!

It’s been a little over one year since we opened our dedicated C-section operating room—just steps away from patient rooms in the Family Birthing Center at Pella Regional Health Center.

In that time, 198 babies have been delivered via C-section—52% boys, 48% girls—with families benefiting from a smoother, more comfortable birth and recovery experience, all in one location.

This specialized space was designed to keep moms and babies together and improve outcomes through advanced technology and compassionate care—thanks in part to generous support from our community.

This addition—made possible in part through generous community support via the Pella Regional Health Center Foundation—continues to provide families with state-of-the-art care in a calm, comforting environment.

“From My Hospital Window” — Leah’s Story
Leah Garland, our Bereavement Coordinator at Hospice of Pella, never expected to face breast cancer herself. But this summer, that changed. Leah underwent a bilateral mastectomy right here at Pella Regional, and from her hospital window, she could see the construction of our new cancer radiation center taking shape.
“I felt such joy to see the new radiation center being built outside my window. It gave me hope — not just for myself, but for every person who will benefit from this care close to home,” Leah said.
For Leah, the absence of local radiation services meant making tough decisions. The thought of traveling an hour daily for weeks of radiation while balancing work and family wasn’t realistic. “If the center had already been here, I would’ve seriously considered the less invasive lumpectomy route,” she shared.
Now, as she continues her treatment, Leah says she’s been blown away by the level of care available locally — from advanced imaging to surgery and therapies — all within the walls of Pella Regional. “People are often amazed I didn’t need to go to a larger city an hour away. Soon, others won’t have to either — not for any part of their cancer journey.”
Leah shared this moment from her hospital room to encourage others. “I’ve been open about my diagnosis because hearing from others helped me. And I want people to know: we have phenomenal care right here in Pella.”
We’re grateful to Leah for her courage, her heart, and her willingness to share — and we look forward to the day this new center opens its doors.

🌡️ Know the Signs: Heatstroke vs. Heat Exhaustion 🌡️
With high summer temperatures on the rise, it's important to recognize the symptoms of heat-related illness before it becomes a medical emergency. ☀️

💧 Heat Exhaustion can cause:

Heavy sweating

Dizziness or fainting
