Until I am fully staffed again we will NO longer hand count customers.

Your options:

Small orders we will hand count if we have time otherwise we will estimate your small bags.

Buy our bag fill it up get paid an estimated amount based on what is in your bags. NO GLASS IN THE BAGS!! Bring your glass and bags of containers to the west door. Leave your glass on the bench outside.

Buy our bags. YOU COUNT your containers
250 cans. 150 plastic (12, 16.9, 20, 24 ounce).
2 liters 50. We will pay you for your count as long as it looks correct.

Business and customers who have reached out to me can arrangements to drop off containers and we will count them when time allows.

Yesterday we opened back up and my front door was hell with angry people who had to wait over an hour to have their containers counted. I took a 5 minute break after working 4 straight hours and received insanely rude comments for doing it. This girl is over feeling guilty for changing her business to suit her age, health, and staffing issues.

I truly appreciate the kindness of the people that came through the west door. And a few through the front door. You don’t know how much I appreciated the things you said.

PLEASE! PLEASE! STOP SPREADING RUMORS THAT WE ARE CLOSING!!

ALSO STOP SPEADING RUMORS THAT WE WILL NOT TAKE THE DROP OFF BAGS!!!!!!

If you have bought the lined Coke bags and you come to the WEST SIDE DOOR that program has ZERO changes to it! I am turning 61 in a few weeks and I have a lot of years before I can retire so please understand this part of my business will NOT go away!

The part that is changing is customers who come through the north door and bring in 1000’s of cans and want each can counted. I lose my summer help this week and at I can’t physically cover the lane like I did 25 years ago when I opened this business so I need to retrofit that so I can stay open and handle volume of containers that we will get once the Oskaloosa WalMart stops redeeming containers in about a month.

IF YOU HAVE LARGE ORDERS YOU CAN CALL 641-628-2026 AND SET UP A DROP OFF APPOINTMENT OR SHOW UP WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT I WILL DO WHAT I CAN AND THEN GIVE YOU OPTIONS FOR WHAT I CAN’T DO.

We will be closed from August 11-15.

Beginning August 4 there will be a few changes.

WE WILL NO LONGER BE OPEN THE FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH.

We will no longer count customers who have over 200 containers. This is the equivalent of 1 large bag or 5 small kitchen size bags. You must be here by 4:00 to have them counted. 4:30 if you are using our drop bags.

People with larger orders can use our drop program where you buy our bags, fill them up, and get paid an estimated amount based on what is in the bag. First time bag purchase for 75 cents and get a free clean bag when you return it full. The people who use this program absolutely love it and are always kind to my employees.

Or you can make arrangements with us to do precounted orders. You can also make appointments for large orders over 300.

Why are we making this change? The sheer volume of our business has become overwhelming. Our focus is and should be on the repetitive businesses and fundraisers that work with us and are appreciative of what we do. We will continue to count those groups.

And I'll be honest, I am tired of rude nasty people who want to walk in the front door and treat my employees like crap. If I limit our exposure to these people then I can focus on the ones who are actually grateful that we have been here and consistently open for 25 years.

We have a first-time fundraiser set up at the front sheds. Please help the Pella Christian High School cross-country team raise funds for hydration and nutrition supplies for the upcoming season. The shed will be available to support this group until the end of July.

Did you get to watch the Pella Marching Dutch during Tulip Time?

There are over 200 kids in the band and they took up an entire city block. The sound was phenomenal and one of the most impressive and fun things they do is break formation and go through the crowd giving high fives to the audience. Then within seconds are back in formation and ready to play. We look forward to this every year!!

This award-winning group is currently raising funds for new band uniforms! I will have a shed set up for donations through the end of June. Please support this program that gives so much to its students and to this community!

I seriously don’t understand why people can’t read or understand that garbage does NOT equate to money for these fundraisers.

Please be considerate and throw your trash away at home.

The Pella Shooting Club has been working with us on their fundraising efforts for many years. They do an official fundraiser in the spring and in the fall in the back of our building. They are truly amazing! If you ever want to see a hardworking well organized group stop by next fall!

We have added a shed for those who may have missed the on property fundraiser. All funds help cover expenses for the youth involved.
