Please join us in welcoming Caleb Pline as the new Administrator at The Cottages!
Caleb began his journey with WesleyLife at Park Centre in 2024, where he quickly stood out for his dedication, leadership potential, and commitment to excellence. During his time there, Caleb successfully completed his Administrator in Training (AIT) practicum, gaining valuable experience that prepared him for this next step.
Caleb later transitioned to The Cottages as Director of Assisted Living, where his knowledge, confidence, and leadership continued to grow. Since earning his Administrator’s license, he has played an important role in creating meaningful experiences for both residents and team members.
We are thrilled to officially announce Caleb in this role and are confident he will lead The Cottages community with purpose, compassion, and integrity.
Please join us in congratulating Caleb Pline on his new role! 👏🌟

Rejoice - He is risen! On behalf of everyone at WesleyLife, we wish you a blessed, hope-filled Easter Sunday. Please enjoy this greeting that our president and CEO, Rob Kretzinger, sent to team members last week.

***

Easter offers us something we all need: a quiet invitation to slow down and notice what matters. I don’t know about you, but as spring approaches, I want to be outdoors. On my walks, I notice signs of renewal all around me, and I’m reminded that each day is a new chance to make a difference.

A Scripture verse that comes to mind when I think about this season is from Isaiah 43:19: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” It’s a reminder that growth and possibility are always unfolding, even in moments when they can be easy to miss.

Across WesleyLife, we see growth and possibility lived out every day. They can be present in small acts of kindness, in moments of reassurance, and in the trust placed in us by those we serve. Each interaction carries an invitation to live life with a greater sense of meaning, to lean into hope, and to pursue joy. That is both the privilege of this work and the responsibility we share.

As I prepare to retire in a little less than two months’ time, I’m thinking of my own renewal as I seek God’s plan for my next chapter. The fact that I’m able to prepare a “second act” is a testimony to what we do as a health and well-being organization; in previous generations, retirement was a time of rest. I’m looking forward to a little of that, sure … but mostly, I feel overwhelming gratitude for the health that will allow me to continue to make some kind of impact, and to be present and active with my wife, our children, and our six grandchildren.

I’ll leave you with this: The earlier we work on our health and well-being, the better. Please fill your body with good food, move naturally, connect regularly with those you care about, and partner with your health care provider on ways you can maximize your one precious life.

Whether or not an Easter celebration is a tradition for you, I wish you in the days ahead some time to rest, to spend time with the people who mean something to you, and to reflect on the difference you make. Your presence matters. Your work matters. And the impact you have reaches farther than you may ever know.

On behalf of our leadership team, thank you for all you bring to WesleyLife and to one another.

This week’s Bunny Cake Competition at Hearthstone was a fun way to kick off Easter weekend and brought plenty of smiles. With just two creative entries, our residents and team members had fun casting their votes, leading to a close final score of 21–17. Congratulations to team member Jenna Steffen on the win!
Jenna's cake showcased a sweet white bunny with delicate frosting curls, while the other featured Godzilla making a dramatic appearance as bunny Peeps made a quick getaway. Moments like these, full of creativity, laughter, and simple joy, are what make Hearthstone so special. 🐰🩷

We had "Show and Tell" with our 2nd graders today! Most of the residents also brought something as well. There was everything from a Russian Doll, Geode, 70 year old dance shoes, 3D printed toys, stuffed animals and a students even played the piano for us! The kids had such a good time they didn't want to leave and we didn't want them to leave either!

Joy is more than a word at Hearthstone—it’s something we strive to bring into every life we touch. And when we think of Joy, we think of Elaine Malek.
From the very beginning of Hearthstone, Elaine has been a steady, compassionate presence, offering comfort, guidance, and heartfelt care to so many. Her work in Zuid Holland has made a lasting difference in the lives of our residents and team members, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
Elaine has a remarkable way of showing up with kindness, empathy, and quiet strength—bringing reassurance when it’s needed most and celebrating moments of Joy along the way. She is deeply appreciated, and she will be greatly missed.
As Elaine begins her next chapter, we wish her a future filled with happiness, fulfillment, and plenty of dog snuggles—especially as she continues to share her big heart through volunteering a pet shelters. 🐶💛
Thank you, Elaine, for all you’ve given to Hearthstone. You leave behind a legacy of care, compassion, and Joy, and we are so grateful for you.
💙

Yesterday we stepped into joy as we welcomed our new Executive Director, Dylan Spina, to Hearthstone, a ministry of WesleyLife — and to Pella!
It was the perfect way to celebrate our very first Wooden Shoe Wednesday, filled with smiles, connection, and that unique Pella spirit we love so much.
And a special thank‑you to Hearthstone Team Member, Laura Williams, who went the extra mile by wearing a Dutch costume.🌷✨
Here’s to many more joyful steps ahead!

We hit the jackpot with interns this spring! They have been such a blessing to us at Hearthstone, and we have loved having them a part of our work. Outside of Hearthstone they are ALL-AMERICAN indoor track athletes!

Gunner Meyer was champion at the 60 meter hurdles and Olivia Bohlen was third place in the pentathlon this past weekend.

We know these two are going to do great things in their future, and we can’t wait to see it unfold! Go Dutch!

At Hearthstone, a Ministry of WesleyLife, we believe that purpose has no age limit.
Today our Independent Living residents volunteered with adults of all abilities through the Friendship League, a group dedicated to building meaningful relationships in the community.
Watching our residents share their time, talents, and joy reminds us that positive aging is all about connection, compassion, and continuing to make a difference.
Here’s to staying active, staying engaged, and staying involved — at every stage of life.

We welcomed Lincoln elementary students this morning at all locations! We loved our interactions and ability to change viewpoints on aging!

“Is this a nursing home? It doesn’t look like a nursing home - it feels like a hotel!”

So fun, genuine and amazing to build these connections across all generations.
