Happy Lumbee Homecoming & 4th of July from Healthkeeperz! 🇺🇸🎉

What a joyful week it’s been! Our team had an incredible time connecting with elders, enjoying collard sandwiches and grape ice cream, cheering on our beautiful Lumbee pageant contestants, and celebrating during the Lumbee Homecoming Parade and Powwow.

With an estimated 40,000 attendees filling the streets of Pembroke, the spirit of unity and tradition was truly alive. And tonight, we look forward to the gospel singing and fireworks display to cap off this amazing celebration.

Each year, we are honored to support the Lumbee Elder’s Luncheon - a cherished tradition that celebrates the strength, resilience, and wisdom of our elders. Yesterday, the Southeastern NC Agricultural Events Center was filled with love, laughter, and praise.

This year’s theme, “Celebrating the Wisdom and Resilience of our Elders,” was a beautiful reminder of the legacy we build upon. We also had fun connecting with attendees and sharing the many ways Healthkeeperz is here to serve our community through Hospice Care, Home Medical Equipment, CAP Case Management, and Tailored Care Management.

Healthkeeperz President & CEO, Tim Brooks, shared heartfelt remarks and posed the familiar question, “Who’s your people?” - a powerful tribute to family, legacy, and identity. He recognized his own family in attendance and paid special tribute to the late Dr. Joseph “Joey” Bell, whose legacy of advocacy for children’s health and the well-being of North Carolina’s American Indian communities will continue to inspire us all for generations to come.

Did you know Healthkeeperz offers a Tailored Care Management (TCM) program?

Our TCM program supports individuals navigating mental and behavioral health challenges by providing each person with a dedicated care manager. From coordinating doctor’s visits to addressing housing and transportation needs, our goal is to ensure seamless, personalized care, helping individuals thrive with the support they deserve.

Today, our Chief Operating Officer, Tim Locklear, attended TCM’s quarterly training session to personally thank the team for their meaningful work. Healthkeeperz care managers and extenders gathered for a day of learning focused on compliance, system updates, and renewed expectations around member care.

Leading with Compassion, Equipped for Excellence: Our Hospice Leaders and RN Case Managers are now Certified Dementia Practitioners.

We’re proud to share that members of our Hospice Leadership and RN Case Management teams have successfully completed Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) training!

This milestone was achieved through a meaningful collaboration with the East Carolina University (ECU) College of Nursing, led by Dr. Donna Roberson, PhD, FNP-BC—Professor, Executive Director for Program Evaluation, and ECU Principal Investigator for the HRSA-funded Carolina Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (CGWEP).

Dr. Roberson’s sponsorship of this initiative reflects a shared commitment to advancing compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals living with dementia.

We are deeply grateful for this opportunity to expand our clinical knowledge and enhance the care we provide to patients and families across our region. This marks the beginning of a promising partnership between Healthkeeperz and the ECU School of Nursing—with more to come!
