Healthkeeperz Celebrates Grand Opening of New CAP Case Management Office in Lumberton

Robeson County – Lumberton, NC – On a beautiful fall morning, Healthkeeperz proudly hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of its new Community Alternatives Program (CAP) Case Management Office in Lumberton, NC. Held on October 22, the event marked a major milestone in expanding access to home and community-based services for families across Robeson County and surrounding areas.

With record attendance of over 60 guests, the event brought together community leaders, healthcare partners, elected officials, and members of the public who share in the mission of supporting families with complex care needs. The Lumberton Chamber of Commerce, along with Mayor Bruce Davis and City Councilman Eric Chavis, joined Healthkeeperz leadership and teammates in commemorating the occasion.

Healthkeeperz President & CEO Tim Brooks delivered heartfelt remarks, reflecting on the critical role CAP Case Management plays in supporting children and adults with disabilities. "Healthkeeperz is a leading and trusted agency in providing CAP Case Management,” Brooks shared. “For more than 20 years, we have helped children and adults flourish in the place they call home through compassionate and coordinated care. Our team’s passion and expertise are what make us a true partner to the families we serve.”

“It’s a family business that started with my father, Howard Brooks, more than 60 years ago...I’m standing on his shoulders as he stood on the shoulders of those who came before him. So we certainly don’t take credit for what Healthkeeperz is today, because it’s a legacy that my dad started,” remarked Healthkeeperz President & CEO Tim Brooks at the event.

Brooks also recognized the Healthkeeperz CAP Team and shared a moving story of a family whose loved one transitioned from CAP services to hospice care, highlighting how the continuity of support allowed a caregiver daughter to simply be a daughter in her mother’s final days. “Allow Healthkeeperz to take the burden off of you,” he said. “That’s the heart of what we do.”

The Community Alternatives Program (CAP) is a North Carolina Medicaid initiative that helps individuals avoid institutional care by offering person-centered, cost-effective services in the home and community. These services not only promote independence for the participant but also provide critical relief and structure for primary caregivers.

The opening of the new Lumberton location demonstrates Healthkeeperz’s continued commitment to providing trusted, community-based care throughout southeastern North Carolina. With its strong reputation and local roots, Healthkeeperz continues to be a vital healthcare partner for individuals and families navigating complex systems of care.

Spotlight on Dr. Robin Peace

Behind every hospice story is a team led by compassion and experience.

Meet Dr. Robin Y. Peace, our Hospice Medical Director, who partners with nurses, social workers, and chaplains to provide care that feels like family. Dr. Peace truly believes that hospice is a gift.

“The heart of hospice is helping families find peace — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.”

Dr. Peace is a family medicine physician in Lumberton, North Carolina, affiliated with UNC Health Southeastern. She received her medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and has been in practice for more than 20 years.

Known in the community as the “Preacher of Health,” Dr. Peace is deeply involved in Robeson County and currently serves as Medical Director for Healthkeeperz Hospice. She is board certified in Family Medicine and has extensive expertise in treating Alzheimer’s dementia, hypertension, and diabetes, among other conditions.

Dr. Peace considers it an honor to oversee the overall management of hospice patients. Her deep passion for compassionate end-of-life care guides her in helping patients and families find peace, comfort, and dignity.

“People often perceive hospice as giving up on life, when in truth, we’re focused on providing comfort and improving quality of life. We help our patients maintain dignity and die with grace. Hospice is truly a gift to both the patient and the family.”

We’re grateful for Dr. Peace’s leadership and her heart for our mission of caring for all people for the glory of God.

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 10 a.m. at the new Robeson CAP Case Management Office, located at 2003 Godwin Avenue in Lumberton, NC.

The Community Alternatives Program (CAP) is a North Carolina Medicaid program that coordinates a range of supportive services not typically covered by regular Medicaid. “At Healthkeeperz, we work with you to fulfill your desire to receive care in your home while maintaining your health, safety, and well-being,” said Tia Lowery Sanderson, Director of CAP Case Management. “This new office allows us to expand our reach and strengthen our commitment to helping families thrive where they are most comfortable – at home.”
