Dad's Advice Could Be Key to Teens' Sexual Activity
The idea that fathers play a significant role in the development of their kids' approach to s*x has received some support in a new evidence review. Studies in the review suggest that adolescents have less s*x if their fathers talk to them more about s*xual matters.
The review suggests that fathers do make a difference. It's not just about mothers. It's important to understand how parents affect s*xual behavior in their kids because young people are at special risk of unplanned pregnancies and s*xually transmitted diseases.
In study after study, young people say that when it comes to these important decisions, it really matters what their parents think about these issues. The review suggests kids are more likely to have s*x earlier if they have very strict or very lenient parents. Overall, the research sends a message: "Fathers do matter -- they have a role and they need to know that."

Breast Cancer: It Can Affect Men Too

October marks the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And in all the pink that this month has to offer, there is a little bit of blue too. Breast cancer isn't solely a woman's disease. It can also affect men. In fact, about 450 men die from it every year.

Breast cancer is diagnosed in about 1,500 men in the United States each year. It is the same in men and women. Just like women, men have breast tissue that can develop abnormal cancerous cells. For both genders, family history is a significant risk factor–between 5% - 10% of men who have been diagnosed had a history of it in their family. Age and genetic predisposition are, among many others, additional risk factors.

Let's take this opportunity to educate men and their families about male breast cancer. Breast cancer can be treated successfully if detected early.
