Brendan and Kristen had a nice visit at Hillsboro House, the smallest family-owned nursing home in the New Hampshire Health Care Association membership. 26 residents in-house today.

As always, the work of licensed nursing assistants like Amanda pictured with Brendan, is an inspiration.

We're having a tough flu season nationally and here in New Hampshire, and it's filling our hospitals with cases. It's not too late to get the flu vaccine. It may not always be 100% protective, but it mitigates symptoms and hospitalization risk.

Please think of those who are vulnerable when you decide whether to reduce the risk of flu transmission.

The CDC reported Friday that the rate of kids and teenagers hospitalized with flu is the second highest in 15 years for this point in the season.

Thanks to the New Hampshire Bulletin for letting us explain something complicated.

We gave a TV interview on how New Hampshire received far more Rural Health Transformation Program funding from the federal government than many larger states. Thanks to Governor Kelly Ayotte for submitting a compelling application, and for the work of DHHS, Councilors Kenney & Stephen, and others in helping to shape it in a short timeframe.

We thank the legislative Fiscal Committee for approving a fund transfer today to mitigate nursing home care cuts that would otherwise occur Jan. 1. Thanks to DHHS, Governor Kelly Ayotte and the Executive Council for their prior support. We will work with legislators in the coming session to see if additional funds can be obtained to prevent remaining cuts still severe enough to close facilities.

Nursing homes throughout the Monadnock Region and New Hampshire are facing uncertainty following Medicaid’s release of preliminary rate adjustments for reimbursements.
