Vaccines are one of the most effective ways we can protect our children and keep our community healthy. 💙

As flu season approaches, Dr. Ashley Tiahrt, Primary Care Provider at Pender Community Hospital and Medical Clinics, is reminding families just how important the flu vaccine is—especially for children, who are among the most at risk.

“The flu vaccine can cut flu-related ER visits for children in half,” Dr. Tiahrt explains. “It doesn’t give you the flu—it helps your body build protective antibodies. And because babies under 6 months are too young to get the vaccine, the best way to protect them is by making sure those around them are vaccinated.”
