Recently I took a course in MFD, myofascial decompression. This is a great alternative to traditional manual therapy because patients can move through functional movements while receiving MFD to increase range of motion and decrease pain caused by soft tissue and fascia. It's a great additional tool in the toolbox to combine with exercise and other therapy treatments.

It works great for tennis elbow! I'm speaking from experience. 😁

This is an example of a patient taking care of themselves independently. This patient came in for an evaluation with restricted shoulder range of motion and increased pain with movement.

They were cash pay and only wanted to start with the evaluation to see how they could do on their own with the advice I gave them. They have done very well on their own with the one evaluation and a few follow up texts with me on advice as they progressed.

I tell my patients all the time that I'm just their Sherpa, I guide them and educate them to be self reliant in their recovery and rehabilitation, and only they can be ultimately responsible for the final outcome*.

*Disclaimer: In most cases a patient needs more hands on therapy in the beginning and then slowly progresses to an independent program.

**In some cases a patient may need further treatment options such as chiropractic care or an orthopedic referral. I work in conjunction with local healthcare providers in the area to get the best care needed for my patients.
