Construction continues at the new office. 🔨 🔨🔨New drywall and ceiling up, new lighting installed and the old flooring is out and we got to see what the original flooring was in each space. The building was built is 1861 and it’s super cool to see the history and wonder what each room once was. The wood flooring in what will become the Chiropractor’s office (Mike Mastrodonato) was a really special, inlaid pattern. Just beautiful. 😍We are sad we can’t just clean it up and keep it. 😢 Just too uneven. What will become the nutrition and Naturopathic’s office (Andréa) has black tile, so weird! 😱 Either way, very fun to see the old and progressing into the new! We can’t wait to move in and open our doors. 🌱 🩻 🍎

🚨📣BREAKING NEWS📣🚨

"I’m home! Almost five days in the hospital and I was released today (Sunday, May 28th). The infection seems under control - hopefully GONE - and the pain is controlled with oral medication vs IV meds so things are looking up. I’m still in quite a bit of pain, I mostly just want to sleep because of the pain and crazy high fatigue. The docs warned me about this (the fatigue). My plan is to basically sleep for the next two weeks and just recover. Getting rotating visits from all my babies ❤️.
I have a bunch of swelling still and trapped air from the laparoscopic surgery, hoping that all comes down more in the next few days. Overall things went well and I’m on the mend. The doctor was quick to tell me strictly no workouts beyond walking for six weeks. Haha
One day at a time ❤️💪🏽🙌🏽"

The American Cancer Society's estimates there will be 82,290 new cases of bladder cancer in 2023 📈. Everyone can benefit from knowing more about how good nutrition impacts bladder cancer prevention & treatment 💡🍎🥦.

Here's Andréa's & Gateway Natural Health's tips on how you or a loved one can be well-nourished during your bladder cancer journey:

Thank you 🙌 to everyone who has called & emailed to see how Andréa is recovering from her second kidney surgery. We wanted to give a brief update:

"I had my second surgery on Friday - everything went well! They went into the urethra, up the ureter and into the kidney. The doc says there unfortunately was a lot of the matrix stone still in there (even with the last surgery and stent over the last month). He was encouraging however and said he was able to get 99% of it! This is super important because the stone itself IS staph infection…so thank you Lord! He placed another stent (bummer) and I can remove it myself in a week. He hopes I will pass (with the stent) the last bit of stone in there. So overall good news. Bad news was I still have MANY kidney stones in the internal part of the kidney that he could not access. Even with that news we are hopeful that I will get several months or even years of relief from chronic pain and problems. Fingers crossed!
I’m home and in bed, resting. Doing ok 😊

Thank you to everyone who has called/emailed to send their prayers & well-wishes for our fearless, Andréa 💛 We are still anticipating her to be back in the office next week but wanted to share an update with you all about how her progress is going:

"So I’m home! I just spent several days at Strong hospital with an almost complete obstruction in my left kidney ureter. This leads to something called hydronephrosis (where urine keeps getting made by the kidney but has nowhere to drain so the kidney just swells like a balloon and causes pain that is indescribable). The obstruction was being caused by a very rare kind of kidney stone called a Matrix stone. (Yay me for being “unique” once again.)
I had surgery on Wednesday to remove the 2.6cm (GINORMOUS) stone and had a stent placed. The stone, because it was a Matrix stone could not be removed it could only be broken up and we hope I pass it all over the next month.
I have to repeat the surgery again in a month to remove the current stent, see if the stones have cleared and to explore the rest of the kidney that could not get good visualization due to the obstruction. Then maybe a new stent placed.
This stent is crazy uncomfortable and causes constant spasms in my bladder, ureter and kidney. I’m told my body will stop freaking out to it in 3-5 days. Here’s hoping cause I’m sick of feeling like an invalid…sick of BEING an invalid.
This all sounds like I’m sad and negative but I’m NOT. I actually feel 🌟hopeful🌟 for the first time in years about all of this. I am in pain but it’s a different pain and not nearly as severe. We may have an answer now as to what is happening and why this is all happening.
About a year ago I was hospitalized and wrote about a staph infection that they found. We believe this staph infection was contracted during the emergency D&C I had after my miscarriage four years ago. Well…they found it again. It’s not only in my urinary system but also my blood now (which is was not a year ago). Again, a rare kind of organism that does not belong in either of these systems. I now have to have an echocardiogram to see if the bacteria has attached to my heart - which could lead to heart valve failure they say….I’m not going there though. I’ll have the test but my gut says it hasn’t gotten that far. That’s our prayer anyway.
The point is this - that kind of special “unqiue” infection CAUSES the rare “unique” kind of kidney stones I am making. So the hope comes from this - if we can get to the ROOT cause we can stop the progression! Maybe save my kidney…and life!!!
So if you pray, please send prayers out for me. If you do good vibes send them my way baby! Either way I’m clawing my way out of the abyss and I’m gonna figure this out and HEAL 🙌🏽.
Thank you to all who have stepped up in big ways to help my family and me during this time. It means more to me than you could ever know. Clearly the lies my traumas tell me that I am alone are lies and my family and friends DO love me. I love you all! ❤️
