3 Trackers of Ohio

3 Trackers of Ohio A volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of adaptive recreational sports to persons with or without physical disabilities.

THREE TRACKERS OF OHIO began over 20 years ago when several people with amputated legs decided they wanted to share their passion for downhill skiing. Originally the group was primarily social, focused only on skiing for people that could stand. The term Three Trackers comes from the impression or tracks that a skier with an amputated leg leaves in the snow (one ski and two outriggers). Recently we have been able to add kayaking, paddleboarding, biking, and water skiing to the recreational activities we can share with individuals with disabilities. As equipment and techniques for adaptive skiing advanced, other adaptive methods were included. Several years ago, the group began acquiring adaptive ski equipment for people that could not stand or walk, but still wanted to ski. Volunteer instructors began learning how to use this equipment and teach others. This increased opportunities for people with more significant physical impairments. Three Trackers is now more focused on instruction and has a large collection of adaptive ski equipment and a host of skilled volunteers that can provide individualized instruction.

Finishing up our ski season on a good note. Ellie has been using a monoski for about 3 years now and finally shredded down a black diamond run at Brandywine. Her fiancée, who snowboards, was doing all he could to try and keep up!

Last night was the Boston Mills Brandywine Alpine Valley Ski Patrol Rucksack Challenge. Almost 70 people came out including about a dozen volunteers from 3Trackers. The hit of the night was Mason Mowery who got to ride up and down in the ski patrol toboggan a couple of times. It was definitely a challenge but well worth it! Heartfelt thanks to everyone that participated and especially to those who contributed.

Hello everyone.
We will not have any skiing tonight on Tuesday, January 27 due to the extremely cold conditions.

Keep posted for updates for the upcoming weekend and we hope the weather will come back to where we can resume normal operations.

We want to sincerly thank Boston Mills Ski Patrol for their generous donation and support! This donation was a result of the 2005 90 Pound Rucksack Challenge event. This event commemorates the 10th Mountain Divisions’ scaling of Riva Ridge during WW2 to save wounded soldiers. 10th Mountain ultimately lead to the formation of the US Ski patrol. It also had a role in the development of adaptive skiing.

The upcoming 2nd annual event will be on Wednesday evening, Feburary 18 at Brandywine. Everyone is welcome to participate. For more information or to register go to:

Due to a forecast of 10-12" of snow overnight and into Sunday morning we are going to be cautious and cancel our morning and afternoon ski sessions tomorrow. Although its a skiers dream to have fresh powder, we have already had several volunteer and participant cancellations. The roads are likely to be extremely treacherous. Be safe everyone!

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight Series: Meet Mark! 🌟

Our next spotlight honors Mark, a volunteer whose decades of dedication have helped change lives — on and off the snow.

Mark has been part of 3 Trackers of Ohio for an incredible 38 years. He was introduced to the program by his brother, who was dating a physical therapist volunteering with 3 Trackers at the time — a connection that turned into a lifelong commitment to adaptive sports and specifically 3 Trackers of Ohio.

⛷️ On the snow:

Mark skis and snowboards and first learned to ski over 40 years ago, bringing experience to every lesson.

Mark loves skiing with his 3 children who also volunteer: Nathan, Hunter and Emily.

❤️ A moment that stayed with him:

While volunteering at a Winter Sports Clinic in Aspen, Mark was paired with a disabled veteran struggling deeply with emotional trauma after losing his legs. Over the course of the week, they skied, talked, laughed, and learned together. At the end of the clinic, the veteran shared that before attending, he had felt his life was over — but through that experience, he realized he was capable, not helpless, and could keep moving forward.

It was a moment Mark describes as powerful, emotional, and life-changing.

🤍 Why he volunteers:

Because helping others brings him deep fulfillment — and because adaptive sports have the power to restore hope, confidence, and purpose.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight Series: Meet Scott! 🌟

Next up in our Volunteer Spotlight series is Scott, a volunteer who brings experience, heart, and service both on and off the snow.

Scott has been volunteering with 3 Trackers of Ohio since 2019, encouraged by longtime friend and former president Yolanda Niemollar, who knew his background as a veteran and seasoned skier would make him a great fit.

⛷️ On the snow:

Scott has been skiing since he was 4 years old and is now in his 20th season on the BMBWAV Ski Patrol. He’s a PSIA-certified instructor with Alpine Level 2 and Adaptive Level 1 certifications — and it shows in the confidence he helps build in our athletes.

🎖️ Veteran service:

Scott served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1997–2003 as a KC-130 aerial navigator, with deployments supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

❤️ Favorite moment:

Watching one of his first students go from uninterested on beginner terrain to confidently linking turns on intermediate trails — all within a single season.

🤍 Why he volunteers:

To share his love of skiing, give back to the community, connect with fellow combat veterans, and help “keep the promise.”

🎥 Off the hill:

Scott and his wife, Chrissi, are proud rescue pet parents to two dogs and two cats, and he enjoys photography and video in his downtime.
