Alessi Chiropractic

Alessi Chiropractic I am a local chiropractor here to help you on your journey to optimal health! Hi there, I'm Dr. Madie! I'm always eager to talk about my latest read!

As a local chiropractor, my mission is simple: to help everyone feel their best. When I'm not in the treatment room, you can find me outdoors hiking, kayaking... or tasting the latest Finger Lakes wines. I'm a self-taught yogi of over 10 years and I often have my nose in a book. I also love to draw and have a small art business with a focus on anatomy! I'm so excited to bring my bubbly personality

and unique treatment style to my hometown, Penn Yan. I can't wait to connect with you and help you on your journey to wellness!

"Why do you need to know all of these diseases? Aren’t you just working on my back?"
I get that question a lot—and it’s a fair one. As a chiropractor, I focus on the neuromusculoskeletal system, but I’m trained to understand every system in the body.
That’s because not all pain is purely mechanical. Sometimes shoulder pain is really your gallbladder. Low back pain might be coming from your kidneys. Even heart issues can show up as jaw or arm pain.
I don’t treat those conditions, but I need to recognize when your pain might be coming from something deeper—so I can refer you to the right place.
Your safety comes first—and good care means knowing when not to adjust just as much as when it is.

I get asked ALL the time "Should I heat or ice this?" and my answer is always this: do what feels best for you! There are benefits to both and studies show that one is better for some things than the other, but overall it's your body and if it helps I'm all for it!

After thoughtful consideration, I’ve decided to adjust my hours slightly.
Starting this week, I’ll be seeing patients for a half day on Fridays. As my practice has grown (which I’m incredibly thankful for!), so has the need for dedicated time outside of patient care to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

This shift will help me stay organized, responsive, and—most importantly—fully present with each patient I see.

If you already have a Friday appointment scheduled, no worries—I’ll still be seeing you as planned!

Thank you for your continued support and for being such an instrumental part of my journey as I build my career.

Let this be your permission slip: you do not have to earn your value through constant output. Resting, pausing, and taking care of yourself are just as important as getting things checked off of your to-do list. This is such a powerful reminder, especially in a world that constantly tells us otherwise.

Everyone talks about the importance of setting boundaries—but rarely do we hear how to actually do it.
This visual guide outlines practical steps to help you identify your stressors, communicate your needs clearly, and protect your time and energy without guilt.
Setting boundaries isn’t selfish—it’s a critical part of stress management and long-term health.

Boundaries are hard. They can feel uncomfortable, especially if you’ve been conditioned to people-please or avoid conflict—but they are necessary. You can’t pour from an empty cup, and setting limits is how we keep that cup full. Boundaries don’t make you cold or selfish—they allow you to care for yourself and others without burning out. Like they say, “you don’t have to set yourself on fire to keep others warm.”

Things are really heating up out there! Heat exhaustion can sneak up on you — even if you’re hydrated and not in direct sun.

If you feel dizzy, nauseous, overly tired, or start getting a headache — listen to your body. Cool down inside, rest, and don’t push through. Your body will thank you!

Just like the roots of a tree, some of the most important growth happens beneath the surface. It’s quiet, steady, and not always obvious—but it’s the foundation that keeps everything else standing.
Not all growth is visible. Calming your stress response, choosing rest when you need it, learning to pause before reacting… that’s growth. The inner work may not look flashy, but it’s the stuff that actually moves the needle.
Keep going—even if no one else can see how far you’ve come.
