Today marks 160 years since the news of emancipation finally reached enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas. Also known as Freedom Day or Jubilee Day, Juneteenth signifies the end of slavery in the United States and the beginning of a long, ongoing journey toward justice, freedom and healing.

Across our community, folks are coming together this week to celebrate and remember. Here is what’s happening:

🌳 Today at 1pm: Flag ceremony at Monument Park.

🇺🇸 Tonight at 6:30pm: Flag ceremony at Yardley Borough Hall.

⚾ This evening: Trenton Thunder’s Juneteenth Celebration and postgame fireworks.

💛 6/21: Trenton City Hall’s Juneteenth Festival.

❤️ 6/21: Juneteenth Freedom Celebration at Stangl Stage.

This Memorial Day weekend, we’re honoring those who sacrificed their lives and sending strength and love to all the communities and families affected.

Here’s how our local towns are remembering:

⭐️Lawrence Township’s parade will start at 10am today at the Lawrence High School.

🇺🇸 Hopewell Valley Veterans Association will be hosting their annual ceremony at 11am today at Woolsey Park Veterans Memorial.

💙 Pennington’s Memorial Day concert is on tomorrow, May 25 and the parade will be on Monday, May 26.

🎖️Ewing Township will be paying tribute at the Maj. Gen. George J. Betor Veterans Memorial Park on Monday, May 26.

If you’re a veteran or active military, stop by for 25 olo 0ff through Sunday and 3o olo 0ff on Memorial Day.
