This year HVCHS will have it's first club geared towards medicine, medical professions, and everything healthcare...HOSA. HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) is a national organization endorsed by the US department of Education with the exclusive purpose of serving students in pursuit of a career in health professions.
Those interested in a career in healthcare or just want to learn a little medicine should check us out! We'll be covering things such a basic anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology. We'll also be competing in medical events on the regional, state, and maybe even national level. By participating in this club, you'll learn basic medicine while getting a head start on your medical career, be it a doctor, nurse, or even medical researcher. Among the club's three leaders are two EMTs who have taken a 200 hour intensive course in emergency medicine, and know a little about a lot of the healthcare field.
The first meeting is in room 301 on September 12th during lunch, and meetings will be held during lunch every Monday after that!
