Therapeutic songwriting is back for its third year in a row! Free and open to the public, all welcome, into a space for expression and insight into using songwriting techniques to share your story and lived experience.

Through 4 cumulative workshops in downtown Pensacola everyone joining will be able to write at least one song all their own with guidance from an MT-BC (me!) and each other by October with an opportunity to celebrate and share songs at a festival showcase.

Once a month on the last Saturday at 12pm from June to September

🌊 1st workshop & 2nd workshop - Saturdays June 28 & July 26 @ the Earl Bowden Bldg, Classroom 1

🎶 3rd & 4th workshops - Saturdays August 30 & September 27 @ the Voices of Pensacola 117 E. Government St.

🎙️ Showcase - October 11 @ 6pm during the Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival in the Voices of Pensacola building

Hey Pensacola!

Join our music making group at the Earth Day festival on stage at Bayview Park next Saturday April 19th. Free. This is for all ages, kids and adults alike, to join in and jam on an instrument. Come play your part, even just for a little bit if you are musically curious. I will be leading but this is an entirely improvisational group effort to make music in the here and now. No musical experience necessary. This is purely exploratory, expressive, and fun!
Instruments will be brought by me (Kayla) and available for you to play but this is also BYOI (bring your own instrument) too.

This has been a stellar workshop series so far that Making Waves Music Therapy has been offering to the public for free every last Saturday thanks to Pensacola beach Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival! I wanted to thank our past two songwriters, Katie Dineen & Jake Rabalais, and our next songwriter Mathew. Our 4th and final guest songwriter TBA!

Free therapeutic songwriting is back in Pensacola!

Join us in the atrium of the Studer Community Institute Saturday the 29th at 12pm and every last Saturday until October.

This series will feature local guest songwriters telling their stories, music therapy led by a board certified music therapist, and a supportive place to learn how to write songs all for YOU and your healing & finding your voice.
songfest is sponsoring again so the best part is this is FREE to the public. Big thanks to those fine folks! No music or songwriting experience required. All welcome.

Music Therapy has been used often as a tool to help someone recall memories throughout their life. With this sweet patient we began singing Hound Dog by Elvis Presley and How Much is That Doggy in the Window which began a discussion about pets. The patient described herself as a dog person and how she had 2 dogs growing up to "keep her company"🐶
Payton then sang Coat of Many Colors by Dolly Parton which sparked another conversation about the patient being a mother in which she talked about raising 2 boys. She sang along and shook an egg shaker and shared appreciation for the visit
