Frequently asked questions about Colon Hydrotherapy
1. Will it hurt?
No, it will not hurt. There is a small plastic piece called a speculum that is gently inserted into the re**um. The speculum is lubricated so that it slides in easily with no discomfort.
2. What is a session like?
Very warm, filtered water is slowly introduced through the speculum into the a**s. We do a 6 second slo-fil which equals out to about 1 cup of water, per slo-fil. We continue with the slo-fil method until you are ready to empty. Once we release, the water is allowed to empty through the tubing taking any f***l matter or undigested food along with it. This will be repeated several times throughout the session. We use a closed system with no exposure to waste or odors. Everything gets thrown away after one use.
Colon Hydrotherapy is absolutely safe when performed by properly trained Colon Hydrotherapist using FDA registered equipment, like we have here at Coyle Institute.
3. How long will a session last?
The first session can take about 70-90mins. We will sit down and discuss your health history as well as any medications that you may be taking. The actual treatment usually lasts about 45min.
4. Is there anything that I need to do to prepare for my treatment?
It's best to stop eating and drinking 2 hours prior to your session. It is okay to have water but please no carbonation the day of your procedure.
5. What can I expect after my treatment?
Most of us have strong enough muscles to heed the call and get to the toilet without leaking. After cleansing, do not trust your gas...it could be wet.
6. Is one treatment enough or will I need to come back for more?
It's best to receive a series of three treatments with a liver detox whenever you first begin. When the liver becomes overloaded with toxins, it creates a domino effect as toxicity is spread throughout the body.
The number of colon hydrotherapy sessions will depend completely on the individual and his/her wellness goals. Just as some people exercise on a daily basis to tone and tighten their body, some people also have their own ongoing cleansing, toning and rebuilding regimen for their gut. Colon hydrotherapy can be used as part of any regular maintenance program.
Some people receive a few sessions either before or after traveling, when they have a cold, after the holidays or dealing with congestion or constipation. For those who want to make it part of their regular health maintenance, we suggest scheduling colonics with the changing of the seasons. ( 3 sessions 4x per year)
