A growing number of for-profit institutions are being recognized for expanding access and driving outcomes, and the latest Carnegie Classifications reflect that.

🔎 According to the 2025 update from the Carnegie Foundation & ACE:
🟡 21% of for-profit colleges are classified as “Opportunity Colleges”
…compared to just 16% of nonprofit and 14% of public colleges.

This new classification highlights institutions that successfully serve students from under-resourced backgrounds while maintaining strong outcomes. It’s a welcome shift in how the higher education sector defines impact—and it reflects what many career colleges have long known: student success starts with opportunity.
