One of our favorite events to attend as a family is the UWF Dance Marathon ❣️

We’ve had the opportunity to go every year since 2019! We get to share Carter’s story and update on how well he’s doing! Carter loves the attention and he kept trying to take the microphone from me this year 😂

The college students raise money for several months for the Studer Family Children’s Hospital via the Children’s Miracle Network and the Dance Marathon is the last day and the last push for the fundraiser. We are thankful for how the college community rallies around these kiddos and how these events bring everyone together for such a great and important cause to our family!

We took a quick trip up to Atlanta and met with a new specialist for Carter this morning!

They are starting him on a new and aggressive regimen for a few months to hopefully help keep some symptoms at bay and help stabilize his GI issues he’s had for years.

Adding in new and uncomfortable things isn’t fun for anyone-this kiddo literally deserves the world for what he has to go through, and normally with a smile on his face too!

Specific prayers-please pray that we all get used to this and it gets easier with time (Mia included-she is a rockstar sister!). And please pray that this works and that Carter will be able to stop it after a few months!

Carter is a trooper!

We were in Birmingham all day Thursday for several doctor’s appointments. They went well!

His hearing levels have slightly decreased so they adjusted his hearing aids and he hasn’t said “huh” as often since then 😂 His ultrasound remained stable with things still being elevated and enlarged but no major changes in the last six months! His body has also been swollen a lot in the last few months so his feeding team backed off on feeds just to see if that helps with not being overloaded with fluid. With no major changes or surprises, we’ll count that day as a win 🙌🏼

We then went to see his pediatrician Friday morning because he has a double ear infection again. A quick visit and some more antibiotics, Carter was off to school on Friday!

We had to take Carter to the ER Sunday morning because of a foot injury but the X-rays all came back normal! We were in and out in two hours and saw some friends we hadn’t seen in awhile. I specifically had prayed before we headed up there that certain people were working just because they know Carter so well and they were both there! Even in the hard and what was last minute for us, God had already planned the day. We are thankful that God is continuing to show up in what might be small ways, but very meaningful and seen ways!

Today is infusion day! We have really seen that these monthly infusions help Carter and his immune system. It’s crazy to think how much different the last few years would’ve been if insurance would have approved this medicine four years ago 🙃

As always, Carter has been Carter and has been in good spirits throughout all of this! We continue to pray that throughout Carter’s journey, the trials can point to God’s glory ❣️

Carter has a few new accessories!

We’ve added AFOs, knee braces, and hand braces to the mix. He’ll wear the AFOs during the day and the other two at night. He handled the fitting of them all like a champ and wanted to show everyone his new “shoes” as we were walking out. I can’t say enough good things about Performace Prothestics and the staff! They have been great to work with and they absolutely love Carter ❣️
