📣We are SO proud of recent AMIkids Pensacola grad, Tamarion! He was recently recognized in Tallahassee by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice and Florida Youth Foundation, Inc for his exceptional work to overcome adversity and achieve success! Tamarion is pictured far right and was given the opportunity to visit Tallahassee to share his story with Legislators! To say we are proud is an under statement! 🥹
📖Here’s a snap shot of Tamarion’s story:
➡️ Before joining AMIkids Pensacola, I was living in a shelter and searching for an alternative way to earn my high school diploma. I knew I wanted a better future, but I needed the right support and opportunity.
My counselor and coordinator introduced me to the AMIkids Pensacola Workforce Development GED Program, YouthBuild, and encouraged me to enroll. The program stood out because it offered free GED services along with workforce readiness training, exactly what I needed to move forward.
Through the program, I earned my GED and valuable workforce skills and certifications, including CPR, First Aid, OSHA-10, OSHA-30, NCCER Core, NCCER Site Safety, Homeland Security Certification, and completion of the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program.
Just as important, the program provided encouragement, personal guidance, and support that kept me motivated, even during difficult
moments.
On October 8, 2025, I proudly earned my State of Florida High School Diploma. During my time in the program, I also completed more than 50 hours of community service, earning a Bronze Medal at
graduation. Much of my service was completed with Pensacola Habitat for Humanity, where I gained hands-on construction experience. I learned how to read blueprints, frame walls, properly use tools, read a tape measure, calculate measurements, and install drywall.
After completing the program, I secured employment at Joe Patti Seafood. Looking ahead, I plan to pursue a career in the skilled trades, specifically welding.
I am preparing to enroll in the Welding Certification Program at Pensacola State College in March 2026.
