“Dr. Ellington told me I *had* [lung] cancer — not that I have it,” he said with a smile. 🫁✨ “That moment meant everything to me.”

Mr. Searcy, a former smoker, received his entire lung cancer care journey through Dr. Christopher Ellington and the cancer center team. Dr. Ellington is the only surgeon in the region using two advanced robotic-assisted systems that allow a biopsy — and, when appropriate, removal of lung cancer tissue — in *one* minimally invasive procedure.

WEAR ABC 3 News, Pensacola ran a story Friday on the groundbreaking Single Anesthesia dual robotic lunger cancer surgery performed by Dr. Ellington: "It was cancer, but it's gone". For lung cancer patient Scott Searcy, it was a remarkable revelation after coming out of a groundbreaking new surgery started by Dr Christopher Ellington at Ascension Sacred Heart this year,. Using two advanced robotic surgical systems (Ion & da Vinci 5) Dr. Ellington is able to both diagnose and remove lung cancer in the same single anesthesia procedure. There are only a few surgeons nationwide that perform this surgery, and Dr Ellington is the only one in this region.

Dr. Alex Brown will never forget telling a patient she had developed the same blood cancer that had taken her husband's life just six months earlier. It was one of the most difficult conversations of his career.
