Let's give a big thank you to our Social Worker, Jan Johnson. She is a wonderful advocate for our patients and families. When we asked her why her heart is in hospice, this was her response.

"I have been working for Gentiva for 25 years in June. Hospice has been a part of my life and heart for many years. I knew it was my calling when my grandmother needed to be cared for in her home at the end of her battle with bone cancer, and the care was solely on the family due to no hospice referral. I learned that there was something that could help. I knew this was what I needed to be doing. My mother was the sole caregiver for my grandmother, and I saw how this was affecting my mother both mentally and physically. I knew that my goal was to work for hospice to be able to provide the support, encouragement, and education that families and patients need and deserve through end-of-life transitions. Patients deserve someone who is an advocate and provides care and attention as if they were their own family, and this is what I strive to do with each of my patients and families."

If you see Sarah Frank, please thank her for the amazing job that she does for our patients. Sarah has been with the company for 16 years, and when asked about her hospice story. This is what she had to say.

“ I started in hospice as a new social worker straight out of college. I landed at a hospice agency for my internship and subsequently got hired for an open position in the agency. I thought it would simply be an entry-level job for me, with a plan of eventually venturing to other career opportunities. It wasn’t long before I realized I found my place and my calling in hospice social work. Knowing that my work matters even when I don’t always feel in the moment inspires me. I don’t take it easy each time I meet a new family. I try to hear their story and strive to put myself in their shoes to serve them best. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I have had to impact the hundreds of people this work has brought me in contact with. It’s not always an easy job, but it is a meaningful and rewarding one, and that is why my heart is in hospice.

Big shout out to our community partners over at Navy Federal for showing our patients love on Valentine’s Day. They delivered 390 Baskets of Love, making this the biggest year yet. We had so many baskets we were able to share with our Milton branch. Niki and Torri, please share a big thank you to your team. Our families are so appreciative of all of your love and kindness.
