Interested in dyeing Easter eggs with natural colors? There are many natural materials that can be used to color Easter eggs, from coffee and tea to fruits and vegetables.

To dye the eggs, simply add the natural dye ingredients to a pot of water and bring to a boil. Add vinegar to help the color adhere to the eggshell, and let the mixture cool to room temperature. Place the eggs in the dye and let them sit until they reach the desired color. Remove the eggs from the dye and let them dry completely.

To add a unique touch to your Easter eggs, use wine, bacon, bee wax, or fresh herbs.

Happy Easter egg coloring!

As most of you are already aware; I made the difficult decision to close Renaissance Massage back in August. Covid, Caregiving, and this terrible Economy were all just too much. I fought hard and made many sacrifices to keep going as long as I did but I couldn't conquer all three. Eventually, I had to admit that I am only one person and that the wear and tear of the last three years was not allowing me to be the person I wanted to be and was beginning to affect the quality of my work. Thank you all from the depths of my heart for the pleasure of knowing you and the privilege of working with you! It has truly been my honor and a great adventure! I wish you all joy, prosperity, and peace. Please, do the same for me as embark on a new adventure.

Love,
Courtney

What we missed over the weekend...

SACRUM Sunday!

The sacrum consists of five fused vertebrae; the intervertebral disc's are largely replaced by bone. The sacrum joins with the ilium at the auricular surface, forming the sacroiliac joint.

MITOCHONDRION Monday!

The mitochondria is a membranous, oblong structure in which the inner membrane is convoluted like a maze. Energy for cell operations is generated here through a complex series of reactions between oxygen and products of digestion.

It's SKELETAL Saturday!

The skeletal system consists of the skeleton of bones and their periosteum, and the ligaments which secure the bones at the joints.

07/21/2023

It's FIBROBLAST Friday!

A fibroblast is a type of cell that contributes to the formation of connective tissue.

HEALTH HIGHLIGHTS: ECZEMA
(aka Pathology Post)

Eczema affects 16.5 million adults in the United States. I happen to be one of them.

WHAT IS IT?!-
It is an form of atopic dermatitis that causes skin inflammation. Symptoms include burning, itching, blisters, dryness, and cracking.

IS IT CONTAGIOUS?!
No. Absolutely not. It is genetic.

IS IT SERIOUS?!
No. It is a nuisance, though.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT MY WORK?
When I have flare ups my skin will not be intact and must be sealed or allowed to heal before I resume massage. If the affected area is small enough, I can wear finger cots. If large areas of my hands are affected I am forced to reschedule appointments as most clients do not care for the use of gloves. Wearing gloves also seems to worsen or prolong the flare up. My skin is much happier, and heals faster, when it can breathe.

WHAT CAUSES FLARE-UPS?
Allergies, stress, external irritants, homones, climate...

HOW DO I KNOW MY SKIN IS READY TO DO MASSAGE?
I check to ensure my skin is intact by coating my skin in sanitizer gel. If it burns, the skin is not intact and must be sealed or healed.

SO WHY DO MASSAGE?
I have always been called to healthcare. Eczema is minor annoyance that must be managed like any other health concern. Most of the time it isn't a problem. While it may occasionally get in my way; I don't let it stop me from doing what I want to do.

Time to catch up!
We missed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday!

MEDIAN Monday!
Median- the midline, longitudinal plane dividing the head and torso into right and left halves. It is a middle Sagittarius plane.

THORAX Tuesday!
Thorax- the part of the body between the neck and the abdomen, including the cavity enclosed by the ribs, breastbone, and dorsal vertebrae, and containing the chief organs of circulation and respiration; the chest.

WHEN WAS YOUR LAST MASSAGE Wednesday!
If you can't remember; its been too long!

07/15/2023

It's SUPERFICIAL Saturday!

The term "superficial" is synonymous with external. Just as our skin is superficial to our bones; our ribs are superficial to our lungs.

07/15/2023

We missed Friday! Which was also Bastille Day! Soooooo.....

Here's to BASOPHIL Bastille Day!

Basophils are granular white blood cells that contain dark-staining granules. They are known to degranulate in allergic reactions. They will release histamine, serotonin, and heparin. This induces contraction in smooth muscle and vascular permeability (resulting in inflammation).

07/13/2023

It's TELOPHASE Thursday!

Telephase is the fifth and final stage of cell division, or mitosis.

07/12/2023

It's WRIST Wednesday!

The wrist is an ellipsoid joint, and is distal to the elbow. The wrist is formed by several bones. Two bones from the forearm, the radius and unla; join to three of the carpal bones. These are the scaphoid, the lunate, and triquetrum. These remaining bones of the carpal group are called the pisiform, the trapezium, trapezoid, the capital, and the hamate.
