*** Northwest Florida OMS update 4/30/2020

Dear Patients,

We have missed seeing you all! We hope you are safe and staying well during the pandemic. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. Our commitment to your safety has not changed.

We are happy to get back to treating the many issues that we have asked you to postpone for the past 6 weeks. Our staff will be in the office on a regular basis beginning next week, May 4, 2020!
We will resume screening and treating all of the urgent issues that require surgery.
In an effort to protect all of our patients, NWFOMS will continue telehealth services in order to evaluate all conditions and determine the need for in-office imaging, evaluation and surgery.

Infection control and patient safety have always been top priorities for our practice. We follow infection control recommendations made by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). You will recognize some changes that have been made in an effort to protect our patients and staff. In keeping with the current guidelines set forth by our Governor, only patients will be allowed in the office. We will ask that you wait in your vehicle until we ask you to enter the office. Our office will communicate with you prior to arrival and ask some screening questions and explain our protocol for your visit.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please email us at office@northwestfloridaoms.com in order to complete your evaluation virtually and schedule a procedure. You can also call 850-478-7070 and our staff will be happy to assist you.
We appreciate your patience as we navigate welcoming back our patients safely.

Sincerely,

Dr. Laggan, Dr. Morris, and the entire staff at Northwest Florida Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

*** Northwest Florida OMS COVID-19 Update 3/20/2020

Gov. Ron DeSantis has issued Executive Order 20-72, prohibiting non-urgent / non-emergency surgeries in the state of Florida, however we will continue to be open everyday in order to treat emergency patients.

All non-essential elective medical and surgical procedures are included in order to conserve medical supplies and resources, preserve essential resources and control the potential spread of COVID-19.

NWFOMS has been following the CDC guidelines and recommendations of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and postponing elective procedures and visits to help mitigate the spread of COVID- 19.

We ask for your assistance as Northwest Florida Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery realizes the responsibility to help our patients with non-elective surgical treatment and focus on the management of conditions that require immediate attention to relieve pain or risk of infection and to alleviate the burden on hospital emergency departments.

NWFOMS is concerned for the health and safety of our patients and staff. We continue to adhere to all CDC guidelines for health care facilities and wipe down all surfaces thoroughly between patients sanitizing all clinical spaces and other high touch areas and are currently taking additional precautionary steps.

We are instituting NO WAITING ROOM WAITING
1. Stay in your vehicle and call when you arrive.
2. We will call you when your room is ready.
3. Patients only enter through the entry on the side of the building.
4. Patient Screening including skin temperature scanning will take place before being seated and patients will be escorted to their vehicle after the visit.

We will continue to follow the Florida department of health for specific orders and guidance.

COVID-19 Update

*** Northwest Florida OMS will remain open to serve our patients.
Our staff will remain helpful in accommodating patients who wish to reschedule their consultations or elective surgeries.

The continued spread of COVID-19 across the country is concerning to all of us, and the numbers of cases is expected to increase over the next several weeks.

Northwest Florida Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery has a responsibility to help our patients and yet protect our staff, ourselves and the community from this contagion.

We are currently taking additional precautionary steps in order to slow the spread of this virus so that the number of coronavirus patient cases does not add significant stresses to our healthcare system.

We are following the CDC guidelines and minimizing risks.

To free up hospital beds for coronavirus patients, we are restricting and delaying the scheduling of all hospital-based elective surgeries.

Outpatient elective surgeries will continue. In the interest of patient and staff safety, appropriate screenings will take place and include asking about travel, Upper Respiratory Infection or flu-like symptoms in the past 14 days in accordance with the most current CDC guidelines.

If patients have traveled outside of the US AND if the patient's temperature is above 99.1 F, we may consider delaying surgery for at least 14 days.

NWFOMS will make these decisions on a case-by-case basis.

We will continue to follow the Florida department of health for specific guidance.

In our practice, we will continue to wipe down all surfaces thoroughly between patients, and will recommend avoidance of using the waiting room in order to increase isolation.
