✨March books✨

I read 8 books this month, and six were 5 stars! It was an amazing reading month, probably the best I’ve had since finishing Throne of Glass.

Favorite book: How do I choose just one?? I LOVED The Night Prince, but Conform was a very close second!
Least favorite: The Wolf King, but only because the other books were *that* good. I liked this book a lot!
Spicy book: The Right Move 🏀 OMG am I a basketball fan now? Still thinking about this book 😍

Next up: Working through the Windy City series, One & Only for Bookclub, Rites of the Starling, and then The Wolf and The Serpent!

WIAW, while solo parenting and in a body recomp phase! 💪🏼

I’ve been really dialed in on body recomposition since January, and there’s been a learning curve, but I feel like I’ve hit a groove the last few weeks.

I don’t love to track, but it’s been VERY eye-opening to see where I actually was before and what maintenance looks like.

I feel like really digging in and understanding these different phases is also good for helping clients who are on the same journey.

This is everything I ate a few Wednesdays ago!

✨February books✨

I read 8 books this month, and they were all mix of fantasy and contemporary romance. I also listened to my first audiobook without also reading it, usually I listen when I’m doing chores or at the gym and read at night, but this was 100% audio.

Favorite book: Love on the Brain
Least favorite: A Love Letter to Whiskey
DNF: Lady of Shadows

Next up, I’m reading The Everlasting and The Wolf King!

These are my favorite go-to packaged and processed (yes, I said it) snacks because not everything can be fresh and homemade, despite what some people claim.

When life is lifing and I need to grab something on the go, or a quick snack before dinner, these are what I reach for!

For snacks, I like to get at least 10-15 g of protein and any amount of fiber in there is good, but something with 3-4 g of fiber is great.

These help me reach my nutrition goals and keep me feeling satisfied and nourished!

Protein is everywhere, but we can’t forget about fiber!

Fiber does SO many things in your body:

🥦Keeps you feeling fuller longer
🫘 GI support- like regular bowel movements and keeping the gut microbiome healthy
🍞 Prevent heart disease and diabetes

Women need 25g and men need 38g of fiber each day. That may seem daunting at first, but if you focus on these tips, you can easily get there!

I’m a dietitian and mom of three, and here is a random assortment of things I’ve eaten latey. These were mostly taken while solo parenting during all of these snow days 🫠

I tried basil seeds after seeing post about them and how they become gelatinous faster than chia seeds and they’re so tasty! They also have 15 g of fiber for 2 tbsp which is bananas. I mix mine with 1/2 cup cashew milk and 1/2 cup Greek yogurt and topped with some berries and a bit of dark chocolate.

Another snack I eat on repeat is mixing plain 2% fage with nonfat vanilla greek yogurt and topping with fruit, here is apples and cinnamon.

I always try to batch cook proteins for the week for lunches, but meal prep doesn’t really happen when solo parenting. I did get some chicken in, and we had leftover pulled pork, so I really utilized those for quick throw-together lunches this week.

Do you meal prep or plan for the week?

⭐️Favorite books of 2025!⭐️

I thought I peaked last year when I read ACOTAR for the first time, but now I know nothing will ever top Throne of Glass ❤️‍🔥🌲🗡️How will I ever get over that series? Queen of Shadows is one of my favorite books ever and was by far my favorite in the series.

I read a lot of big fantasy books, and some contemporary romance sprinkled in, just the way I like it. No more reading what I “should” read for big literary hitters because they’re popular. If I don’t want to read it, I don’t!

SJM and Ali Hazelwood were my top authors! I didn’t DNF any books this year, but my least favorite was My Favorite Lost Cause.

What was your favorite book of 2025?

💫 This year was hard, constant chaos, and still not enough sleep, but I am grateful to be taking these habits I’ve been working on all year with me into 2026.

I’m proud of myself for sticking with strength training and limiting running while I healed from bursitis, and now I’m truly in love with going to the gym and lifting heavy.

I’ve also started really dialing in my nutrition and made a lot of changes for health reasons. I’m excited to get a DEXA scan next week for the first time and see how I can continue to put on some muscle and live until I’m 100!

What are some habits you’re taking with you into the new year?

Are you trying to "watch" what you eat?

This can be so harmful if you're an athlete 🏃‍♀️ 🚴‍♀️ 🏊‍♀️

You'll likely skip breakfast, skip fueling that long workout, or wait until lunch to eat anything.

This leads to you having ZERO energy throughout the day for regular life stuff, like work, virtual learning 🧒 playing with your kids, and other life stuff 😴

Your body wants and needs those calories, so you're probably going to feel starving right around 5pm until you hit the sack. You might find you eat a huge portion of dinner and still want more after, leading you to scrounge around for more food, even if you're past fullness.

Does this sound familiar? 😞

Instead, try to eat every 3-4 hours and include some protein and healthy fats with carbs (fruit, whole grains, potatoes, rice, etc) at every meal and snack.

Do you fall into this trap too?
