In primary care, 10-20 percent of people complain of significant sleep problems. According to the National Sleep Foundation (2015), Adults should aim for 7-9 hours per night. In my opinion this may not be realistic or effective for everyone. As a former Army Drill Sgt. I became accustomed and functional with 4-5 hours, of course that was almost 15 years ago, now I am fully refreshed at 6. You will know your target if you awaken and feel well-rested.
Sleep deprivation affects appetite, increases depression, heart palpitations, increases your risk of heart attacks, irritability, confusion, digestive health, etc. If you're not sleeping, start with Delta Waves music (Binaural Beats), when a thought comes, dismiss it and focus on the music.
