It’s another Bee-Day but this time it’s one of our own! Please help me wish our very own Midwife Amber the Happiest of Birthdays! Our secret keeping, calm bringing, intuitive leader turns 23 😉 today! If you know her, you know being an April Fools baby suits her! We wouldn’t be BloomWell without you and we wouldn’t want to be! Thank you for all you do and we are so thankful you were born 💕🐝

Last night was a wild and yet peaceful ride (remember two things can be true at once!) for this mama who chose to trust us once again after risking out of birth center birth in her last pregnancy. This pregnancy, she did ALL the things, and the moment her body told her she needed to give birth, she consented to gentle methods of induction—and her body said, YES, please! She was able to experience so many aspects of physiologic birth this time—some worried her and others left her surprised! It was such a joy to watch her navigate this birth because she WORKED for this birth! And she got her waterbirth early this morning, completely directed by her and her body, into her own hands. She just grabbed her baby girl out of the water and cried. We are so privileged when parents choose us again even when we’ve had to make the hard call to escalate care to a hospital birth in a previous experience. It’s so special! Happy birthday baby girl! You are soooo loved 💕🐝

After our February hiatus, March brought us the most PERFECT butter birth with the most perfect family. We just love this mama who chose us as our very first “from start to finish” family back in our starting days in 2022. The sincerity and authenticity we have experienced with them through three journeys (one loss) is unmatched. Every appointment is a joy, and every birth with them is so beautifully intuitive. On Friday she messaged that she was sure she was in labor after an unsure couple of rounds of prelabor. We all settled into the birth center, got her into the tub and held space for her to tell us she was ready, and within five minutes of her saying baby was coming her surprise girl entered the world in the same room her brother joined us in almost three years ago! The trust and love we have all established together makes this birth oh so special! Happy Birthday Sweet Girl — you are SO loved 💕🐝

Oh how I want every single mother to have the birth she WANTS! But sometimes…what we want and what we NEED are two very different things. Blending the two is at the heart of midwifery. We see you. We know what you want. But sometimes…we have to tell you the hard things that reveal what you, your body, and your baby NEED. Please know that’s so hard for me to tell you. I am so sad when something arises that means I need to recommend something other than what you wanted. When it’s clear that you need an intervention you didn’t WANT, I don’t revel in telling you the reality. But the promise I make to every mother who hires me is that I will not lie or hold back the truth when the evidence says something might be becoming unsafe or risky. My ego cannot get in the way of your care, and sometimes that means sharing your care with providers who have the tools I don’t have to give you and your baby and family the safest and least traumatic outcome possible. I’m not always a baby catcher…a lot of times, as a midwife, I’m just safely holding your space and care.

Another BloomWell repeat family welcomed a surprise little girl to their crew this morning!

After having two babes whose birth stories were full of twists and turns, this third little one stuck to the “plan” and the flow and surprised her mama with a totally normal, physiologic path with no plot twists— Surprising her Mom and showing her just what she’s capable of if she can keep her head in the game and allow this little one to have her own story! We couldn’t be more proud of this family and their determination to make this birth their best yet! Happy Birthday Girlie and Congrats again Mom and Dad 🐝🐝🐝

During clinic after yesterday’s midnight birth, a sweet repeat mama alerted us she might be in labor—and indeed she was! This mama labors swiftly, and in no time at all, she was welcoming her second sweet boy in the same room she greeted her first, this time in the water, completely en caul. After being gently released from his bag of waters, his mama grabbed him and wouldn’t let go. Congratulations to this family on another amazing birth! 🐝🐝

Last night we welcomed the sweetest, most long-awaited baby girl! After coming to us for care long before becoming pregnant with this baby, this first-time mama navigated multiple barriers to a community birth with such flexibility and grace throughout her pregnancy—she EARNED her natural birth center birth, and we are SO proud of her! Happy Birthday Sweet Girl 💕

Sometimes every step is as perfect as possible and the path at the end demands a shift in plans…and that’s exactly what Tuesday’s birth story brought! A perfectly low-risk pregnancy and hands-off labor ended in a direct OP presentation and the need for an unmedicated forceps birth with our friends at HCA Florida West after baby showed us he wasn’t tolerating labor in the position he’d chosen, and that he just could not budge into a different position. She was supported so beautifully by her Doula Heidi throughout 💕

We are so thankful for the collaboration we have that allowed for Amber to maintain her midwifery role all the way to the end—and for patients who trust us to join them as they exemplify unending grace and strength!
