🚀🎈 Happy Birthday, Elijah! Our charming little man just turned one. Born at just 33 weeks and two surgeries, he continues to lift spirits with big smiles and laughter. 💖

Now he’s preparing for his third surgery in February, when he will have his cleft palate repaired. This surgery helps close the opening in the roof of the mouth and can support feeding and speech development.

Elijah’s journey includes multiple stages of craniofacial care, and we’re grateful for pediatric craniofacial surgeon Dr. Wallander and the caring team at Studer Family Children’s Hospital. 😄💜

Please keep sweet Elijah and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare for the next step. As his family shared, they are “trusting God every step of the way.” 🙏✨

With students returning to school this week expected to worsen an already significant spike in flu cases, it's a critical time to keep your family safe. Dr. Dawn Walton, Chief Medical Officer for Studer Family Children's Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart recently shared insight and advice in an interview with the Pensacola News Journal.

“The most important thing is if your child is sick with symptoms of the flu or an influenza-like illness, don’t send them to school because it’s just going to increase the spread. If your child is not sick, you need to remind them to try to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before meals and snacks,” Dr. Walton advised.

For more information, including what to know about the new flu "Subclade K" variant, read the full story by Pensacola News Journal:

The Studer Family Children’s Hospital has seen an uptick in youth flu cases, and officials expect that number to rise once school resumes.

🍬🍭This holiday season, we want to thank all the families who attended Studer Family Children’s Hospital Pediatric Rehabilitation in Tiger Point.

We are so blessed to have a former care team member, Chris, return each year—growing out his beard to dress as Santa for our annual Christmas party—to spread joy and delight our patients. 🎅

Whether it’s physical, occupational, or speech therapy, therapy should be impactful and fun. We’re honored to celebrate each child’s journey and the transformative power of pediatric rehabilitation.
