The Studer Family Children’s Hospital NICU Small Baby Program is dedicated to improve survival rates for extremely premature babies, specifically for babies born around 23-28 weeks gestation or under 1,000g.

This collaborative, multidisciplinary approach involves our Ascension Medical Group Sacred Heart and community OB/GYNs, as well as pediatric dietitians, speech pathologists and OTs, all working together to serve the most vulnerable babies of Northwest Florida.

This advanced technology is already making a difference, from our tiniest infants to growing teens, by helping us gain vascular access more safely, quickly, and gently. It’s enhancing comfort, accuracy, and outcomes for our young patients.

👼 Angel Eyes keep watch on NICU preemies at the Studer Family Children’s Hospital.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, including Cat Country Cares for Kids Radiothon and Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, 72 Angel Eye cameras are now installed in every bed space in the Level II and Level III NICUs at Studer Family Children’s Hospital and Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast.

These secure, HIPAA-compliant livestream cameras enable parents to view their baby from any device, at any time. Whether it’s a middle-of-the-night check-in, reassurance during a long commute, or staying connected while caring for siblings at home, families can always feel close.

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month at Studer Family Children’s Hospital means families facing cancer never walk alone. Care is more than medicine; it’s love, support, and community.

Magnolia was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, and soon she’ll head home to celebrate her 2nd birthday. 🎂

“From the very beginning, every doctor and nurse treated Magnolia like she was loved and valued. That made all the difference.” —Elizabeth, her mom

At Studer Family Children’s Hospital our Child Life team provides comfort by turning care into play, even Elmo dance parties with glow sticks. Magnolia’s favorite moments are blowing kisses to everyone in the hallway.

Hope ♥️ made possible by NICU nurses every day. Behind every NICU victory is a nurse’s expertise and compassion. This Neonatal Nurses Week, we celebrate the amazing impact our team has on families every day.

Rainer and Uriah are two of those victories 👶👶 Born at just 25 weeks, they spent 78 days in the NICU at Studer Family Children’s Hospital.

Fast-forward two years… these brothers are thriving, busy with playground adventures, chalk art, and dreams of Chick-fil-A every day.

Their mom, Lauren, shared her deep gratitude ♥️ “We continue to keep in touch with some of the nurses who cared for them during their NICU stay and hope to return for the reunion next year. We often think of the nurses and care team members who made such a lasting impression on our family.”\

reminds us of the little miracles that unfold each day and the compassionate care teams who support every moment.

🌈This September, we’re celebrating one of those miracles: Ivy Kate’s first birthday.🌈
Born at just 22 weeks and weighing 415 grams, Ivy Kate began her journey in our NICU. She faced many challenges and amazed us all with her progress, and won our hearts along the way.

After 205 days in the NICU, Ivy Kate went home to her family in Helena, AL. Today, she’s nearly 16 pounds, showing the world what’s possible.

Katie, Ivy Kate’s mom, shares this message for other NICU parents: “You’re not alone. Ask questions, speak up, and give yourself grace. These babies do things in their own time — and they’ll let you know when they’re ready.”

Captain Jack Sparrow dropped anchor at Studer Family Children’s Hospital today. 🏴‍☠️✨ Thank you for the fierce imaginary sword fights and treasure-worthy quests like hide and seek.

As Northwest Florida’s only children’s hospital, the Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart includes a pediatric emergency department, 72-bed neonatal intensive care unit, medical/surgical beds, observation beds, a pediatric imaging department, pharmacy, inpatient rehabilitation gym, child life playrooms, outpatient lab services and a new family-friendly dining venue.
