Recently, the custodial leadership team at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, in Washington, DC, received a wonderful email from the AFRH custodial contracting officer (COR), recognizing the team and Bryce Chisley specifically.

Good day,
GCE Custodial Services staff have been performing exceptionally well during the government shutdown. An AFRH resident specifically noted that the recycling room on the 7th floor remains in pristine condition and is consistently well-maintained. Additionally, Bryce was commended for outstanding work, particularly for meticulous dusting throughout the building.

Promotion News at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida!

Congratulations to Jess Rocafort on his promotion to Kitchen Manager II. Jess has a dedicated and positive work ethic. He is a diligent leader whose guidance is instrumental to the complexities associated with the Kitchen Manager’s duties and he solves any issues that may arise. He leads by example and inspires success to his team members that work under his leadership.

Eric Gonzalez, GCE food service Project Manager shared, Jess's work ethic is outstanding. He has provided training and supported new cooks when hired. He conducts his duties and follows up with the management with any issues at the back of the house. Jess temporarily assumed the duties of the building manager, during the transition of hiring new managers. Not only did he conduct his kitchen manager duties, but he also kept track of over 135 trouble tickets, which are typically done by the building manager."

Congratulations Jess, from your GCE family.

Congratulation to Mary Laster on her recent recognition at Naval Air Station Pensacola (NAS) in Florida.

Natasha Hall, GCE operations director, shared the reason for the recognition. Mary promptly intervened to assist a team member in distress, utilizing her prior professional experience to provide appropriate support. She remained with the team member until the caretaker was notified, and the team member had the proper supplies to go home. Mary truly exemplifies the core mission of GCE, helping people.

We are truly thankful for Mary's quick thinking and kindness for her fellow team members.

The Lieutenant Governor of Alaska, Nancy Dahlstrom, visited our GCE booth at last week's job fair in Anchorage Alaska!

Stephen Sandquist, GCE project manager, had a wonderful visit with her and answered all of her questions about who GCE is and what we do. He shared that we have started a new contract at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) providing hospitality services on base, a new line of business for GCE. Stephen also let her know about our long-standing food service contract at Eielson Air Force Base in Fairbanks.

The Lt. Governor was super supportive of the work, through the AbilityOne program, we will be doing at JBER but also the work we do at Eielson Air Force Base providing food service to the base.
