The Arc Gateway

The Arc Gateway provides services and support to children and adults with developmental disabilities The Arc Gateway serves more than 1,200 children and adults.

Programs range from early intervention services, pediatric therapy and child care to retirement programs for senior citizens. Day programs include basic academic classes and work opportunities at The Arc Gateway and throughout the community. Residential programs include six group homes in the community and support for individuals living in their own homes.

This past Saturday, our Pearl Nelson Center proudly hosted a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder community event!

A big thank you to Jenn Werden and Tiffany Cross from The Florida Center for Early Childhood , Melissa Sidoti from the Florida Department of Children and Families, and our incredible FASD Clinic team. You bring Panhandle families valuable knowledge, resources, and support, and we are so thankful for the difference you make every day.

We are lucky to have such dedicated partners and a community that truly cares about helping families thrive!

Always great when Transportation comes by!

These amazing people make sure our clients get where they need to go, whether it's an appointment, a day program, work, or a community outing. Rain or shine, they’re out there bright and early with a smile, helping our clients start their day with confidence and dignity.

For so many of our clients, transportation is the lifeline that keeps everything moving forward. It’s more than just getting somewhere. It’s access. It's independence. It's opportunity. And thanks to this amazing team, those opportunities stay within reach every single day.

We’re out at Tidal Wave Auto Spa this morning for their Annual Charity Day! We’re proud and grateful to partner with such a generous, community-minded business, and it’s exciting to see support for The Arc Gateway already rolling in.

At both Pensacola locations, 5307 N. Davis Hwy and 1811 W. Nine Mile Rd, 50% of every wash today goes directly to The Arc Gateway. Each car that comes through helps the people we serve live fuller lives with more opportunities. Stop by, get your car shining, and know you’re making a difference!

“You Are My Sunshine.” That’s not just Gayle Spurr’s board service theme song. It’s also the way she sees the wonderful clients of The Arc Gateway.

Gayle and her husband moved often during their years in the Navy, experiencing life in many different places, but Pensacola has always been home.

“Volunteering has always been a big part of my life,” she shares. With years of experience in marketing and development for shopping centers, Gayle now serves as Treasurer on The Arc Gateway Foundation Board. She’s also involved with the Five Flags Rotary Club, continuing her lifelong commitment to serving others.

We are truly grateful for Gayle’s heart for giving and all the ways she brightens our mission.

𝘌𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨. We asked Sherry to describe the impact of The Arc Gateway in just one word. She chose “encouraging.” Sherry’s daughter, Jamie, was born with Down syndrome 26 years ago. Sherry connected with MaryAnn Bickerstaff, Andrea Hamilton, and Carolyn Arnold, people that “are still there [at The Arc Gateway] loving families like ours that are scared.” Through their support, Jamie received early intervention and therapies from The Arc Gateway.

“Every parent wants an organization that will help them navigate the systems (health care, school, social supports) with a positive direction for their child. The only guarantee in life is we are not immortal, so we want our loved ones appropriately cared for.”

A retired Special Education teacher, Sherry stays active in church, special needs Sunday school, Miracle League, and many other clubs and organizations.

We’re very lucky to have Sherry as a member of our Agency Board of Directors. Her compassion, uplifting spirit, and dedication make her a valuable asset to our mission and the families we serve.
