From Marine to Miracle: Brice’s Story of Strength and Recovery
At just 25 years old, Marine veteran Brice Chaidez was active, healthy, and working full-time when his life changed in an instant. After being struck head-on by a vehicle while riding his motorcycle, Brice was rushed to the hospital with multiple life-threatening injuries, including fractures to his arms, pelvis, back, and legs, along with internal injuries requiring several surgeries.
When Brice arrived at Reunion Rehabilitation Hospital Peoria, he could barely tolerate sitting up for more than ten minutes and required total assistance for all aspects of care. But with the support of his care team, including physical therapist Lisa Brinton and occupational therapist Chloe Charski, Brice set small, achievable goals each day, gradually building strength, endurance, and hope.
Day by day, he progressed from using a mechanical lift to transferring with a slide board and finally, walking with a walker. After 46 days of determination, perseverance, and teamwork, Brice walked out of Reunion fully independent.
Today, he continues therapy as an outpatient and is already looking forward to walking without his walker and returning to the active life he loves. Brice and his family are deeply grateful for the entire Reunion Peoria team, who helped him rebuild his independence and confidence.
