Utu Humanitarian Alliance

Utu Humanitarian Alliance We are a network of caring, globally-responsible businesses and professionals providing essential medical services to indigent people worldwide. Our Passion.

In Maori culture, Utu is a concept of reciprocity, or balance. It is like a “hands on” application of the more well-known principle of karma. Utu Global Humanitarian Alliance is a partnership of caring, globally-responsible businesses and professionals. We partner with caring physicians in underprivileged communities worldwide. We provide them with the funding and the resources necessary to perform essential medical procedures for those that would not otherwise have access to skilled medical care. We focus our efforts on treatable deformities and degenerative conditions that limit fundamental human abilities such as seeing, walking and smiling. Specifically, we provide vision restoration procedures, club foot repairs, and cleft lip and palate repairs. For every qualifying product or service we provide, we fund one of these essential procedures. There is no cost to our customers. As a token of our gratitude, we present our customers with a certificate that commemorates the wonderful humanitarian service bestowed. Our alliance began in 2013 with a group of selfless doctors in the Phoenix, Arizona, area. The alliance has since expanded to include our friends and colleagues in a variety of industries and professions. Each is highly recommended in their respective field. Their Need. Your Choice.

Two-year-old Aira Mhyca Aguilar was born in Manila with a bilateral cleft palate. Shortly after Aira’s birth, her sixteen-year-old Mother abandoned her. Aira spent the first two years of her life in the custody of her grandparents. As fish vendors, her grandparents could not even afford to take her to a doctor for even basic check-ups. With such a deformity, Aira was destined to go through life as an outcast. School would be almost impossible for her because of the emotional suffering caused by derision and teasing.
Fortunately and fortuitously, Aira’s grandparents learned about an Utu clinic in Manila. Christian missionaries gave her grandparents enough money to cover the cost of travelling to our clinic where she received procedure to correct her deformity. Aira is now a beautiful, healthy toddler with every opportunity to lead a normal, productive, happy life.

On behalf of Aira, a big thank you to everyone that supports Utu!
