What am I thinking...
I often find myself overthinking and headed down a rabbit hole of what if’s. It’s not uncommon to feel overwhelmed and frustrated when all we want to do is be calmer and more clear-minded.
We all want more peace in our hearts and minds.
With all the distractions of life these days, it’s no wonder that our minds are fuller and more taxed than ever.
Try asking yourself this question, what am I thinking at this moment that is causing me to feel this way? How would I like to feel instead?
Try not to answer the question, (that’s the hard part) keep asking the question, and be patient. Just like talking to a child who isn’t quite sure how to express themselves, try to be patient and wait for the answer to arrive.
It may take a moment, or months, just keep asking the question and then be quiet.
This is one of my favorite and most effective exercises to do with my clients and myself when I'm feeling something unpleasant or not serving.
