To those who celebrate, PHS wants to wish everyone a Happy Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is an annual celebration of African-American culture from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a communal feast called Karamu, usually on the sixth day.

Each of the days of the celebration is dedicated to one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa: unity (umoja), self-determination (kujichagulia), collective responsibility (ujima), cooperative economics (ujamaa), purpose (nia), creativity (kuumba), and faith (imani).

This is exciting news for individuals who are treatment resistant and have difficulty achieving VL suppression!

Why is VL suppression important: Viral suppression is defined as having less than 200 copies of HIV per milliliter of blood. Viral suppression helps to keep you healthy and prevents transmission. HIV medicine can make your viral load so low that it doesn't show up in a standard lab test. This is called having an undetectable viral load. Being virally suppressed
means someone living with HIV/AIDS is at no risk of transmitting HIV to a negative partner. Undetectable equals Untransmittable! U=U!

Long-acting injectable Sunlenca (lenacapavir) is indicated for heavily treatment-experienced people with limited treatment options.
