We like to celebrate as much as we can in the Care Center. On Saturday March 14th (3.14) we celebrated Pi day with a Pie Trolley. Residents had their choice of 5 different pies from Trefzger’s. We were so busy we weren’t able to get pictures but we sure had fun! And this week we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with a Taste of Ireland Happy Hour, music from Don Bauer and Potato Bowling

“I came here 10 years ago thinking it was just a housekeeping job,” says Tanjie Kramer, Director of Lifestyle Enrichment for EverTrue Lutheran Home at Topton in Topton, PA. “I’ve always been outgoing. I’d stop and talk with everyone. One of the Lifestyle Enrichment team members said, ‘You’d be perfect for working in Lifestyle Enrichment!’ I took the jump from housekeeping to Lifestyle Enrichment, and I don’t regret it one bit.”

Today, Tanjie is one of many who have found success through a career in aging services. March is Careers in Aging Month, which highlights the opportunities in aging services.

Tanjie has grown with EverTrue, becoming a certified Activities Professional and Activities Director.

But, according to Tanjie, the most important qualifications aren’t listed on paper:
“Be caring. Be patient. Have a bubbly personality.”

Her days are filled with trivia, active games, trips and Diners Club lunches. But beneath all the fun, there lies a deeper purpose. “The real work is keeping the residents connected. Keeping their bodies moving and their minds stretching. Making sure no one feels alone.”

Cycling Without Age Helps Residents Stay EverTrue to Past Hobbies

Three EverTrue Life Plan Communities are getting ready to roll out a new experience designed to bring fun, connection and fresh air to residents —Trishaws, a three-wheeled, pedal-powered bicycle with a pilot seat in the back and a comfortable passenger seat in the front.

EverTrue Breeze Park, EverTrue Laclede Groves and EverTrue Lenoir Woods are joining the Cycling Without Age movement, which focuses on generosity, relationships and the simple joy of sharing a bike ride. Trishaws are designed for accessibility, allowing residents who use walkers or wheelchairs to access the fun and enjoy scenic rides.

“The trishaws are such a fresh and innovative way to enable more people to experience the joy of cycling. We are so excited to get them rolling!” said Megan Lau-Sears, Director of Lifestyle Enrichment for EverTrue Lenoir Woods.

During each ride, a trained trishaw volunteer "pilot" will pedal while residents ride in the front compartment as co-pilots, sharing the experience together and taking in the sights and sounds at a relaxed pace.

Each community is preparing to launch a new volunteer opportunity for residents, team members and community supporters to serve as EverTrue Trishaw Pilots.

Excitement is already building. “Residents are already asking if we are getting a second one!” said Gina Timme, Director of Development at EverTrue Laclede Groves.

By encouraging new relationships and embracing the beauty of slowing down, the trishaws offer yet another way EverTrue celebrates Life According to You.

We are pleased that all our EverTrue Tower Grove residents are safe from this morning's fire and thank the St. Louis Fire Department for their quick response.

This morning, a fire occurred in a seventh-floor apartment at EverTrue Tower Grove. The resident was not in the apartment at the time. Headcounts were conducted and all residents have been accounted for and are safe.

Following recommended Fire Department safety class protocols, residents sheltered in place while crews responded. Two residents were transported to the hospital for evaluation as a precaution.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and remains under investigation. Teams are currently reviewing the affected floors for any smoke or damage before residents are allowed to return to their homes. Any residents affected will be temporarily moved to a nearby EverTrue community.

We are thankful for the partnership of the St. Louis Fire Department and their quick action, as well as that of our team members and residents of EverTrue Tower Grove.

EverTrue Rose Hill House residents were thrilled to welcome Irish bluegrass sensation, JigJam, for a special one-hour performance. Organized by an EverTrue Rose Hill House resident’s granddaughter, the band made the visit personal and meaningful for all who attended.

Professional live music is a happy treat for residents, and this powerhouse quartet delivered. Known for performances at such places as Grand Ole Opry, the band shared their incredible talent, providing foot-stomping fun that made everyone excited for St. Patrick’s Day!

One highlight? A song they wrote about St. Louis, a moment that made the afternoon even more special.
