Today is 2025! 💙

Blood clots, or thrombosis, affect 1 in 4 people worldwide and are a leading cause of death and disability. Each year, about two million Americans experience a deep vein thrombosis (DVT), with many facing lasting health effects. This World Thrombosis Day, we’re raising awareness of blood clot risks, signs, and symptoms to help save lives.

We’re grateful for partners like the Deveraux Hubbard II Foundation , whose advocacy brings critical attention to this silent but serious condition. Learn more about blood clotting disorders and how to protect yourself:

BCDI staff, patients and members of the bleeding disorders community spent today in Washington D.C. on Capitol Hill as a part of the Hemophilia Alliance’s Hill Days event!

The BCDI team spoke with members of Congress about the role Hemophilia Treatment Center's play for their patients and the importance of the HTC care model, about several access to care issues throughout the community, and raising awareness about the integral part the 340B program plays in providing high-quality care that is offered at HTC's. This helps to lower overall healthcare costs and most importantly, leads to optimal outcomes for patients with a bleeding disorder!

We would like to send a HUGE thank you to Rep. Darin LaHood for taking time out of his busy schedule to personally meet with us, as well as staff members from the offices of Congressman Eric Sorensen, Jan Schakowsky, Robin Kelly, Congresswoman Mary Miller, and Senator Tammy Duckworth for speaking with our group!
