Today is Ash Wednesday...the start of the Lenten season, especially if you are Catholic! As you begin this journey of sacrifice and choosing to give something up--here is a big reminder. Don't give up good dental hygiene! I know--it's cheesy, but we don't give up humor here at Ferlmann Family Dental!!

Some people give up something, and others add something that is good for them! So, here is a thought...add flossing to your routine! By the end of Lent you will have a new habit that will be of long term benefit to you and your complete health!
Why is flossing so important?
1. You like to smile, right? Well flossing will help keep your pearly whites, white! It helps to remove food particles and plaque that your brush has missed!

2. It keeps your gums healthier--which leads to stronger teeth--which means, beautiful smile!

3. Periodontal disease takes initial gingivitis (gum disease) to the next level. There are links between periodontal disease and heart disease. So, flossing can help keep your heart healthy! Who knew, right?

So--keep flossing! Keep brushing! Get in for a cleaning! And definitely--keep smiling!!

It'a Valentine's Day and since it is the month of love we thought we would give you a smidge of advice! So, here are the top 5 tips for being kissable--in our opinion!!

1. Brush 2x per day!
2. Floss daily – at least!
3. Visit our dentist 2x a year – at least!
4. Use Mouthwash!
5. Don’t be afraid to do a little self-assessment!

Number five could be tricky, but here’s a tip to a tip: try licking your hand then smelling the result. Let it dry or take a whiff right away, either way if things smell not so good, take evasive action!

Oh--and always keep sugar free gum close by!
