Hoarders Information Network Team is a group of people dedicated to helping the public, our communities and our health care teams become aware of Hoarding and its devastating effects. Hoarders Information Network Team was created by a group of medical professionals who care for patients with Psychological/Mental and Physical challenges-Hoarding affects all aspects of a patients life and can be brought on by any major stressor, a death, divorce, emotional or physical trauma, illness etc.

HOARDERS ARE PEOPLE TOO!! There are many types of hoarders and levels of hoarding. Many hoarders begin young as children and follow a parent or siblings example of what is normal. A mess may be a mess to some but to a hoarder it has "meaning". Each piece of paper or picture may actually represent something. There is some irrationality to hoarding but for the hoarder it makes perfect sense. Just like any other behavior hoarding is a learned behavior that gets out of control quickly. There are very few places in our communities where hoarding is acceptable. Everyone sees hoarders as "abnormal", " unorganized", "deficient in some way" all of these descriptions are inaccurate. Many high functioning intellectual people have hoarding issues.
