No need to worry about the weather and safety of your kids, just walk through the front doors and start filling your bags or buckets!

National Johnny Appleseed Day is celebrated twice a year, on March 11 and September 26. The March 11 date is often chosen because it coincides with apple planting season, while the September 26 date marks the birthday of the American folk hero John "Johnny Appleseed" Chapman. Both days celebrate his legacy as an American nurseryman who spread apple trees across the Midwest and his contributions as an early American conservationist.

Today, we decided to celebrate this National Day with caramel apples! Molly from Compassus brought all the toppings for a delicious treat before Bingo this afternoon!!

The leaves are changing to a golden color which means fall is just around the corner! 🍂

We enjoyed our morning getting out and enjoying the fresh air and sunshine! Our Activities Department took us through Detweiller Park and Grandview Drive to get a great look at the changing of seasons!

Every 65 seconds another person is diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Another family is thrown into chaos having been given little or no instruction in providing care. Today, four out of five of those families fracture under the stress of caring for a family member
who lives with Alzheimer's or related dementias. Relationships are broken, often never to be mended. How do we minister to these families?

Caregivers have taught us that a key to surviving the caregiving experience is coming face to face with others living similar lives. There is power in being with those who understand. Support groups ... formal or informal ... offer this power. They offer help,
hope, and a particular healing that comes only when heart aches and hard lessons are shared. They offer life-saving laughter, forever friendships, and the peace that comes from knowing you are not alone. A support group is often the caregiver's greatest source of comfort and empowerment —the surest road to survival.

Join us for Donuts and Dementia: Discussion and Informational Meeting on TOMORROW, August 26th beginning at 10:30am. This support group will be hosted by VITAS Healthcare. We offer a safe and supportive space for you to connect, share experiences and learn from others. This event is free and open to the public.

It's National Farmers Market Week and we're kicking off the week with a taste test of different jams and jellies! Tomorrow we'll be sampling delicious breads and butters. 🍞

We are still in need of garden fresh vegetables and fruits, if you are able to help, please drop them off at the main lobby front desk.

Orville Clarence Redenbacher was born on this day in 1907. He was an American food scientist and businessman most often associated with the brand of popcorn that bears his name which is now owned by Conagra Brands. The New York Times described him as "the agricultural visionary who all but single-handedly revolutionized the American popcorn industry".

Today, we celebrated with a popcorn social in our Four Seasons Lounge! 🍿
