Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides assistance for eligible women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or recently had a baby, as well as infants and children under 5 years old.

RSV vaccine linked to fewer infant hospitalizations

Hospitalizations for infants with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) dropped sharply last season, thanks to new preventive tools. Kelsey Grimes, DO, outpatient pediatrician with OSF HealthCare, notes the maternal RSV vaccine and long-acting monoclonal antibody for high-risk infants are helping reduce severe cases.

Everyday precautions and OSF OnCall virtual care remain important.

Our NICU babies brought plenty of smiles (and a few happy tears) this Halloween with their adorable costumes. From tiny pumpkins to little superheroes, their cuteness definitely stole the show! 💕

🎃✨ Happy Halloween! ✨🎃

Today we brought Disney magic to our Halloween celebration! With creative costumes, smiles, and laughter, we spread joy to patients, families and each other. The day was even more festive with the Pediatric Subspecialty Clinic’s pumpkin decorating contest! 🎃

Meg Zakrzewski, president, OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois, has the fun task of helping choose the winners in our Best Dressed contest! Team entries were welcome, and winners will receive the Pixie Dust Award along with some fun OSF Children’s Hospital swag. 💫👻

Avoid a sugar scare this Halloween! 👻🍬

Keep the fun going without the sugar crash. These tips will help your little monsters enjoy Halloween treats in a healthier way.
🍬 Think beyond candy. If you’re still stocking up on treats, consider handing out fun goodies like bubbles, stickers or bouncy balls.
🍭 Set sweet limits. Let your kids enjoy a couple of pieces of candy on Halloween night, then stash the rest for later.
🌞 Enjoy candy earier in the day when kids are more active, not right before bedtime.
💧 Hydration is key. Encourage water or other non-sugary drinks while they enjoy their treats.
