It’s 9:30pm on a Friday night.

I’m sitting in my car in the studio parking lot eating a cold slice of Casey’s pizza that I bought 5 hours ago. I’ve been awake working since 4:30am… and as I reflect back on the day, I can’t help but feel proud.

Proud of women business owners.

Because many of us aren’t just business owners.
We’re moms.
We’re wives.
We’re our kids’ chauffeurs.
Some of us are also working part-time or full-time jobs on top of running a small business.

We wake up before the majority of the population and our heads don’t hit the pillow until late. We juggle a lot, we sacrifice a lot, and we show up every single day with passion for what we’re building.

That’s why tomorrow means so much. 💛

I want to take a moment to address something openly and honestly.

My previous post about our Puppies & Pilates event brought in a number of really hurtful messages and comments. After reading through them, I chose to take the post down. I’ll be the first to say — the wording was not clear, and that is on me.

I should have said we were looking for puppies, not “puppy breeders.” I’m truly sorry to anyone who felt hurt or concerned by how that was phrased. That was never my intention.

Over the past three Puppies & Pilates events, we’ve proudly partnered with the Dubuque Humane Society and have donated $1,400 back to support their rescue efforts. We absolutely care about animal welfare and supporting organizations that do incredible work in our community.

This particular style of event simply works best with very young, small puppies (and kittens) for safety and comfort reasons. Larger animals aren’t ideal during a Pilates class. Coordinating with rescues can sometimes be challenging when we’re planning a ticketed event weeks in advance and small litters aren’t always available.

With that said, we’ve decided to shift this event to a “Bring Your Own Puppy” format.

Attendees are welcome to bring their own young puppies (8 weeks–3 months) for snuggles and safe socialization. We will require that all puppies are up to date on vaccinations to help keep both the pups and participants safe and healthy.

We will also be donating a portion of the proceeds to the Dubuque Humane Society, as continuing to support their mission is important to us.

We’re all human. We all make mistakes. I sincerely apologize for the confusion my wording caused. My intention was never to promote breeders — it was simply to create a joyful event centered around puppy snuggles and a fun weekend with girlfriends.

If the Humane Society has young puppies available for a future event, we would absolutely love to collaborate again.

Thank you to those who reached out kindly, and thank you to this community for caring deeply. That passion is something I truly respect.
