Happy IBCLC Day to all of our IBCLC friends!!

IBCLC stands for International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. It is considered the gold standard certification for lactation caregivers worldwide.

is proud to share that Dr. Allie completed her IBCLC training earlier this year and joins the growing community of pediatrician-IBCLCs! She offers general lactation support to all of her patients as part of their regular GCP membership. She continues to train clinically to advance her skills in this area. And…she is now a new mom to her sweet 2-month-old little boy!!

IBCLC training is rigorous and includes a strong background in health science, 90+ hours of lactation specific education, 1000 clinical hours in infant feeding, and passing a multi-hour standardized exam. Continuing education credits are required to maintain the certification over time.

Greater Cleveland Pediatrics is proud to support IBCLCs in our local community!!

FYI to our patients and community: Abbott has voluntarily recalled certain lot numbers of infant formulas manufactured in a specific Michigan facility. These may include formulas under their Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare brands.

You may visit www.similacrecall.com to learn more and to check your formula’s Lot Number.

This does not affect all infant formulas and does not affect all Similac infant formulas!

This is a proactive recall.

Great news, friends! Our pediatric Covid-19 doses have arrived!!! AND the CDC’s ACIP committee officially voted YES to recommend the vaccine to the 5-11yo age group 🙌🙌

So what needs to happen next?
⭐️ CDC director signs off on the vote
⭐️ Ohio Dept of Health approves administration of the vaccine in the age group
⭐️ Both should happen VERY SOON!

OKAY, CAN WE SCHEDULE ALREADY???
⭐️ Established patients: vaccine clinic on 11/4! Check your email for a pre-registration link, or contact your doctor directly
⭐️ Non families: Yes, we would love to help vaccinate your children!! We are hosting a public clinic on 11/8, and more clinics to come! Scheduling will be via the ODH website: gettheshot.coronavirus.Ohio.gov. Scheduling will go-live as soon as ODH allows it, hopefully tomorrow 11/3!!
⭐️ Clinics will be drive-up in the parking lot, even if it’s chilly!!!

⭐️ YES, we approve this vaccine for our 5-11 year olds!
⭐️ YES, you can get your COVID vaccine even if you recently received/will be receiving another vaccine (such as your flu shot)
⭐️ Common side effects: Sore arm, mild fever, chills, body aches, headache, fatigue - though these occurred LESS often in the 5-11yo age group!
⭐️ YES, you CAN give ibuprofen (Motrin) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) if needed after the vaccine

💪 Let’s get these kids protected!
