JFSA and PLAN of Northeast Ohio recently hosted "Back to the Future: 150 Years of Creative Connections," an annual art show and performance night showcasing the talent of adults living with mental illness who participate in our art therapy and PLAN programs.

Since 2001, this cherished tradition has helped reduce stigma through the healing power of the arts. This year's exhibit featured original paintings, mixed media, and performances in music, poetry, and dance-each piece a powerful story of perseverance, healing, and pride.

Deep gratitude to our supporters: Ohio Arts Council, the Fran & Jules Belkin Family Creative Arts Program at JFSA, Cuyahoga Arts & Culture, and the Peter Hoke Memorial Fund.

Jewish Family Service Association (JFSA) of Cleveland just completed its 16th Annual Karen Newborn Mitzvah Day, spreading companionship, holiday care packages, and kindness to over 125 older adults during the Jewish High Holy Days.

What started in 2010 with deliveries to 40 seniors has grown into a beloved tradition powered by board members, volunteers, and YouthAbility ambassadors—all coming together to organize and deliver essential items and fresh flowers, bringing warmth and dignity to our senior community.

“A simple act of kindness can have an enormous impact,” said this year's organizer and former JFSA Board Chair, Bill Wortzman.

Event founder and former JFSA Board Chair, Karen Newborn added, “Seeing new and longtime volunteers side by side ensures this legacy of kindness continues.”

Thank you to everyone who gave their time and heart to make this year’s Mitzvah Day unforgettable!
