Dr. Alissa Huston is a Professor of Medicine at University of Rochester and Co-Director of the Pluta Integrative Oncology and Wellness Center. She is also very involved in SIO serving as Co-Chair of the Clinical Practice Committee and is an SIO Board Member.

We are excited to announce the opening for Scientific Abstract submissions for the 2026 SIO International Conference, hosted by the Henry Ford Health Center from September 29 to October 1, 2026, in Detroit, Michigan. The conference theme is “Cultivating Community and Belonging in Integrative Oncology”. Submissions are welcome from all members of the integrative oncology community including trainees and persons with a cancer diagnosis.

Please take careful note of the submission deadlines, as we do not anticipate any extensions.

March 18, 2026: Call for abstracts opens
April 27, 2026: Call for abstracts closes
June 1, 2026: Abstracts results emailed

The 2026 annual conference will have both in person and virtual attendance options. Those who are selected to present a scientific abstract (workshop, poster or oral) are expected to present physically in-person, not virtually.

Bridging the gap between research and real-world cancer care remains one of the biggest challenges in healthcare.

We often focus on generating strong evidence—but how that evidence is implemented in clinical settings is just as important.

That’s where implementation science plays a critical role. The Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO) is proud to partner in the IMAGINE Project (Implementing Massage & Acupuncture into Oncology Care), a four-year implementation project funded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).

The IMAGINE Project is currently implementing evidence-based oncology acupuncture and massage protocols in 35 academic and community cancer centers across the United States, helping bridge the gap between research and practice.

Our latest research blog, “IMAGINE & Implementation: Advancing Evidence-Based Integrative Oncology Care,” explores how implementation science can help move promising therapies from research into routine oncology practice.
