Falling in love with the process for February! One of my goals is to improve my squat form. So let’s talk about it

I tried to make this a reel but instagram was being so weird.

In my first squat you can see the angle of my torso is forward which moves the weight more over my toes and keeps me from sinking into the squat.

To work on this I thought about keeping my chest up and pushing my knees forward while dropping straight down into the squat.

You can also see a change in head position, knee angle and in the angle of the ankle. The bar path also moved back toward the mid-foot, where we want to see it.

I had to go down in weight to really focus on how my body was moving. And to be perfectly honest, it wasn’t super comfortable. My legs were killing me and my hip flexor was acting up, like I had never squatted before.

Training new movement to patterns can be so difficult. Give yourself the time to really hone in on improving your technique. It adds up big time in the long run.

In the process…

As trainers and coaches we are supposed to have it all figured out. The gold standard. But we are just people.

We were all beginners at some point. We all made mistakes. Some of us overtrained and under ate or over ate and under trained. Got super lean then overweight. Competed or never competed. Got injured. Recovered from an injury.

We aren’t perfect. Far from it actually. The best coaches are the ones who don’t pretend to be either.

We are all just out here trying to do this silly thing called life the best we can.

I have spent a lot of time hating fitness, hating my workouts, and hating my body because I was trying to be perfect. Only training to look a certain way. So here’s to my goal of the year “growing in gratitude” being grateful for what my body can do and growing it and my mindset to love the process.

I don’t make anyone weigh themselves, do measurements, or take pictures. Progress is 100% individual and the way we track needs to be as well.

The entire Wulf Pack gets to choose how they want to track because this is all about them!!
