What Is the Hacienda?
After more than 25 years, the Hacienda remains committed to its foundational principle of “restoring men to useful lives”. It offers a proven program that gives men the tools to abandon violence and self-destruction and become productive members of family and society. A number of men come to the campus as an alternative to court-ordered sentencing or after release from prison or jail. Many are overcoming alcohol and other substance abuse, gang affiliations, domestic violence, and homelessness. Other participants have no criminal background, but come because they recognize their desperate need to alter their self-destructive patterns.
There is never any charge to participate in this program.
Men accepted into the program must exhibit a strong desire for positive change by committing themnselves to our one-year, live-in, supervised program (phase 1). Daily schedules include participation in chapel activities, hands-on job training, and other program curriculum and responsibilities. After completing phase 1, graduates may opt to enter phase 2 and remain on campus for assitance and accountability in securing employment, personal transportation, housing, financial counseling, maintaining compliance with probation, and general preparation for independent living.
The Hacienda is recognized by the Superior Courts and Probation Departments of Riverside, San Bernardino, and Orange Counties as a faith-based alternative sentencing program.
