🍼 Florida Families Deserve Better. Help Us Make It Happen.

Did you know that IBCLCs (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants) are not recognized as Medicaid providers in Florida? That means families who need us the most often go without critical breastfeeding support.

We’re fighting to change that by calling for state licensure for IBCLCs and Medicaid recognition so we can serve ALL families, not just those who can afford to pay out-of-pocket.

👶 Breastfeeding saves lives.
🌪️ It’s even more essential during emergencies like hurricanes when formula access is disrupted.
❤️ This is a pro-family issue that supports real maternal and infant health.

Please join us in advocating for change.

🌸This Mother's Day remember it's the simple moments that matter.🌸

It’s not always the big milestones or picture-perfect days that our children hold closest. It’s the ordinary moments, the quiet laughter, the shared meals, the way we make them feel safe and loved.

This Mother’s Day, I’m reflecting on how those everyday memories that shape the hearts of our children and build a legacy of love.

To all the mothers showing up in the small, quiet ways that matter most: You are seen. You are cherished. You are writing stories that will be remembered forever, and in the eyes of your children, you are everything. 🌷

Happy Mother’s Day. 💐

🍼✨ The Force is Strong With This Letdown! ✨🍼
Sometimes… a little too strong. 😅

A forceful letdown (or strong milk ejection reflex) can catch both you and baby by surprise — think milk spraying like a lightsaber! While it may look impressive, it can cause real struggles, especially in the early weeks.

⚠️ Common signs of a forceful letdown include:
🚼 Baby choking, coughing, or pulling off the breast
🌀 Gassy, fussy, or colicky behavior
📉 Short, frantic feedings
😟 Feeling like your baby isn’t satisfied or is rejecting the breast
🤯 Feeling engorged or leaking a lot between feeds

Here’s the twist: these signs can lead some parents to think they have low milk supply when in reality, it’s the opposite!

🛑 If you're experiencing these issues, don't panic, and don’t go straight to pumping or scheduled feeds.
✅ In most cases, feeding baby on demand, and working with a lactation consultant, can help your body adjust and reduce that firehose letdown.

💬 If you’re not sure what’s going on with your letdown, your baby’s latch, or your supply, that’s where I come in. You don’t have to figure this out alone!

✨ May the 4th be with you! 💛

💕 Thinking about breastfeeding? Start before baby arrives.

Research shows mothers who see an IBCLC during pregnancy are 3 times more likely to initiate breastfeeding and continue breastfeeding for longer.

🌟 Learning about breastfeeding before baby comes is like packing a flashlight for a nighttime hike. It doesn’t remove every obstacle, but it lights the path ahead.

The truth is: you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. 💬 You deserve to feel prepared, confident, and supported.

A prenatal lactation visit can set you up with a personalized plan, answer your unique questions, and help you walk into parenthood feeling empowered and ready.

Because I believe so deeply in the power of prenatal breastfeeding support, I’m offering a special discount for families without insurance coverage!

🌸 Virtual prenatal breastfeeding classes are $50 for self-pay clients.
🌸 In-home prenatal consults are also discounted to $50, plus a $50 travel fee.

(If you’re covered under insurance, no worries — your benefits apply and this discount doesn’t change anything for you!)

I want every family to have access to the tools and support they need to start their breastfeeding journey with confidence. 💖

🌸 If you’re expecting, or know someone who is, I’d love to be part of your journey.

🌸 Glorifying God Through the Gift of Motherhood 🤱🏽✝️
🤱🏽✝️ Good Friday Reflection

Today on Good Friday, we remember the ultimate act of love, Jesus laying down His life for us. It was not glamorous or easy. It was painful, slow, sacrificial... and full of purpose.

In the same spirit, breastfeeding is a daily laying down of self. It’s tender and holy, messy and miraculous. And while it may not look like a cross, it is still a cross we carry in love.

Breastfeeding is more than a biological act. It is a sacred reflection of God's own heart.

📖 “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you.”
— Isaiah 66:13

In the tenderness of a mother holding her baby close, in the quiet moments of nourishment and connection, we catch a glimpse of the way God cares for us, with gentleness, patience, and unfailing love.

📖 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.”
— Isaiah 49:15

God uses the image of a nursing mother to show us the depth of His devotion. In a world that often rushes past sacred things, He reminds us that motherhood is holy ground. Every feeding, every cuddle, every night spent rocking a baby in the dark is seen, cherished, and honored by our Creator.

🤍 This post is not to shame those who could not or did not breastfeed. Just as God offers grace to all, so should we. We are all in need of His mercy and love. Whether you nursed, pumped, formula fed, or a mix of it all, your love matters. You are seen. You are enough.

Today, I want to pause and glorify the One who made our bodies capable of such intimate miracles and honor the mothers walking in quiet faithfulness every single day.

You are doing holy work.
God sees you.
And He will not forget you. 🙏🏼

In Jesus' name, Amen.

A message from Annette Bevan of based in Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom. Annette and some of her teammates are advocates for letting fellow athletes both Grassroots & Professional that the game is not over for them at Motherhood. It’s only just beginning :

“Playing rugby doesn’t end when motherhood begins - if anything, it’s made me more resilient, more determined and more educated about the changes to my body and how I need to adapt my training. I’ve learnt to maximise my training time and have become the master of a superset. I’ve learnt to not be too proud to ask for help from my ‘village’ of family, friends, rugby club and teammates, who are legends for the support they provide on match days, on training nights and everything in between. And I’ve learnt you can literally push your body to do anything even if at one day postpartum you think you’ll never even be able to walk normally ever again.“

🔍 Fl**ge Sizing Matters! 🔍

Did you know that using the wrong fl**ge size while pumping can lead to discomfort, clogged ducts, and even a decrease in milk supply? A properly fitted fl**ge helps ensure efficient milk removal, prevents ni**le trauma, and makes pumping a more comfortable experience.

Signs your fl**ge might be the wrong size:

❌ Ni**le not moving freely in the tunnel
❌ Ar**la being pulled in to the tunnel
❌ Pain or discomfort while pumping
❌ Decreased milk output
❌ Milk leaking from under the fl**ge
❌ Drastic output differences in breasts
❌ Recurring clogs with pumping
❌ Difficulty draining the breasts

Every body is different, and sizing guides online don’t always tell the whole story. If you're struggling with pumping or unsure about your fl**ge size, an IBCLC can help you find the perfect fit! 💕

Your Circle of Support: The Key to Breastfeeding Success

The early days of motherhood can feel overwhelming, but having a well-prepared support system in place can ease the transition and help you focus on healing, bonding, and breastfeeding. Here’s how to set up your circle of support before baby arrives:

1. Identify Your Key Support People
Think about who can be there for you physically and emotionally—your partner, family, friends, or even a postpartum doula. Assign specific roles based on each person’s strengths. For example:

Partner: Encouragement, bringing snacks/water during feeds, helping with baby soothing.
Family/Friends: Meal prep, laundry, housework, watching older siblings.
Lactation Consultant: Professional breastfeeding guidance and troubleshooting.

2. Set Up a Meal Train or Support Schedule
Meal prep is one of the hardest things to keep up with postpartum! MealTrain.com allows friends and family to sign up to bring meals, send gift cards for food delivery, or even schedule housework help. Be specific about your dietary preferences and delivery instructions to make it seamless.

3. Create a Visitor Plan
Well-meaning visitors can be a blessing or a source of stress. Set boundaries early:

Plan short visits with clear expectations.
Ask visitors to help, not just hold the baby (bring a meal, do the dishes, etc.).
Don’t hesitate to say “not today” if you need rest.

4. Connect with a Breastfeeding Support Group
Breastfeeding can feel isolating, but joining a local or virtual support group can make a huge difference.

5. Accept Help & Give Yourself Grace
You do not have to do it all! Accepting help is a strength, not a weakness. A prepared support system allows you to heal, bond, and enjoy this precious time with your baby.

💬 Tag a friend who needs this reminder or share what helped YOU the most postpartum! 💕
