Busy nights call for meals that work with your life, not against it!

Stir fry is one of my favorite go-to meals for families on the go because it checks so many boxes: quick, flexible, and easy to build from what you already have at home.

A grain or pasta, a protein, veggies, and a sauce = dinner in minutes. Everyone can customize their bowl, it’s easy to use up leftovers, and it takes the pressure off needing a “perfect” meal after a long day of school, sports, work, and activities.

For busy families, nourishment doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes the most supportive meals are the ones that are simple, satisfying, and realistic for real life.

What’s your family’s favorite stir fry combo?

It had been more than 10 years since I last played in an all-day volleyball tournament, but this weekend I got the chance to jump into an indoor 4v4.

My body is not the same body that trained 5 days a week, played games throughout the week, and competed in weekend tournaments like it did in college.
But what is the same?
The way I prioritize taking care of the body that lets me play a sport I love.
Fueling is still one of my top priorities, even when it’s a “one-off” tournament.

Because whether you’re competing every weekend or just stepping into a tournament for fun, your body still needs consistent energy, hydration, and recovery support to perform well and feel good.

Scroll through to see what my fueling focus looked like throughout the tournament weekend, and don’t miss the last slide for some of my favorite go-to choices.

On my ongoing quest to find authentic Mexican cuisine in Northwest Ohio, I tried My husband ordered a salad. I ordered carne asada tacos with elote corn salsa.

Whenever I order something more calorically dense than my partner, I find myself thinking of my clients—particularly the many women who struggle to honor their hunger or order what they genuinely want when sitting across from someone choosing what society has labeled as “healthy.”

It takes courage to act in opposition to these social norms—to trust our bodies and to begin the work of deconstructing diet culture. When the food arrived, the tacos were naturally passed to my husband. We laughed and switched entrees. Of course the wait staff would assume I ordered the salad, they've been subject to diet culture too.

This is why developing the skills to listen to my body's needs and advocate for myself are so important. Guilt and shame didn't get a dinner invite. Eating what we want, in the quantity that our body wants, requires us to identify those old, inherited thoughts that no longer serve us. Deconstructing diet culture goes really well with delicious cuisine.

📢 We're heading to the Netherlands this June for The International Conference on Eating Disorders (ICED), hosted by the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED)! 🎉

AED’s annual conference on eating disorder research provides our staff with the most up-to-date research in the field. Divergent attended in 2024 and walked away with several new policies and the framework for the Northwest Ohio Eating Disorder Coalition. We can't wait to see what we pack up and bring back from Amsterdam 😍

I saw this in a junior high wrestling tournament in Northwest Ohio. It appears the junior high students were responding to the prompt, "I will be better at..." I'm sharing a few photos of the responses that stood out to me.

When I present the need for eating disorder prevention and treatment, I continue to hear the feedback, "we don't have that problem". I've heard it in schools. I've heard it in universities. I've heard it from churches.

The population in Northwest Ohio is estimated near 855,000 humans. If we use Harvard data (2020) we can estimate 9% or 76,000 of those people will experience an eating disorder in their lifetime. In less conservative studies such as the Journal of American Medicine (2019) we see estimates as high as 19% or 162,000 local Northwest Ohio people who will experience an eating disorder in their lifetime.

The reality is we do have this problem. Our kids are writing it on the wall.

For those who follow the practice of eating Fish rather than other meats on Fridays in Lent, here is some inspiration for your dinner plate!
Salmon, Sweet Potato with butter and brown sugar, baked chickpeas, asparagus and broccoli.

Sometimes I season my own salmon and other times I do not have the bandwidth to do it myself so I rely on Moreys brand fillets.
