Bethany and Sara were invited to put on workshops at The Athlete. Mental Health Summit yesterday and Michelle was invited to speak 1:1 in a mentor style session with athletes, parents, coaches, athletic directors, school counselors and teachers. The Mental Health Summit aims to explore what it means to take care of the whole athlete, highlighting Person before Performance.

We were honored to have this opportunity to connect with local athletes and those who support them and look forward to continued partnership!

When we give ourselves consistent, unconditional permission to eat a food, our interest and intensity naturally decrease over time; this is habituation. The food becomes less exciting, cravings soften, and eating feels more neutral and satisfying. In contrast, restraint (dieting, rules, or ā€œforbiddenā€ foods) keeps foods psychologically scarce. That scarcity heightens focus, urgency, and desire, often leading to stronger cravings and overeating. It's no wonder that a growing body of research shows that the more someone diets, the more likely he or she is to engage in binge eating (Holmes et al. 2014).
Permission leads to calm and balance, while restriction fuels preoccupation and loss of control.
