To cope with excessive heat, prioritize staying cool and hydrated. Seek air-conditioned spaces, wear light clothing, and drink plenty of fluids, even if you don't feel thirsty. Limit strenuous outdoor activities, especially during peak heat hours, and check on vulnerable individuals like the elderly and those with health conditions.

June is Alzheimer's Awareness Month. According to the Alzheimer's Association, in Ohio there are 236,200 people aged 65 or older living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. 414,000 unpaid family caregivers provide care for those affected for a total of 624,000,000 hours valued at $11,427,000,000! Hospice of Northwest Ohio has several specialized programs that address the needs of patients with Alzheimer's, dementia or other cognitive disorders.
