Here in the United States we find ourselves the day after Election Day. Whichever side of the debate you were for there was, inevitably, going to be a lot of people very sad and scared today.
You may find yourself tearful, angry, in disbelief etc. Many people are scared and many people are grieving right now. They are grieving the loss of trust in their community members, in their friends, in their family member. Many people are grieving the loss of trust in the US or in "the system". You may be grieving the loss of a friendship, the loss of the life you thought you'd live, the life you thought kids would live.
If you are already grieving a loss than this compounded grief and emotional strain may feel extra heavy.
Your feelings are valid. You are allowed to feel your feelings. It is okay to feel scared, nervous, sad, angry, and even happy.
As always and especially today remember to give yourself grace and take care of yourself.
Be gentle with yourself and be gentle with your community. We are all humans with emotions.
Please if you are struggling reach out to your support system. If you find yourself needing help contact an agency near you or call 911.
